Last chance to RSVP for tonight (Oct 20)
Why RSVP? So we know you're there for the BrooklynVegan party. That said, we can still only fit as many people in that will fit in 205 (205 Chrystie St), so get there early if you want to catch Thunderheist and Walter Meego.

So what is the point of the RSVP? Just make it free: first come, first served. We all know why, it is just a way for going.com to harvest email addresses.
going.com is/used to be an advertiser on brooklynvegan.com BV is getting paid for collect e- mail addresses for them. So sad. I do believe everyone should make money, especially BV, but to do it in such a shady way is disgusting. BV, how much are they paying you for our email addresses?
Make it first come, first served.

going.com never advertised here. Those were google ads - I have no control over what shows up there.
I hate RSVP's too, but we decided that for this night party, it would work best to control the door. People walking down the street are going to try and get in, and I'd rather BrooklynVegan readers got in instead.
I expected some people to be pissed about Going, but I felt it was the best way to do it - Partly because Going seems pretty harmless - all they want is an email and a name (no actual personal info required to RSVP) so then they can email you other simiar events. It's kind of useful information, or you can unsubscribe, and most importantly - all you have to do is use an email address that you reserve for stuff just like this, so seemed like not a big deal.

you douchebags complain about every single fuckin thing possible, just shut the hell up already. hes putting together a free show and runs a good website and all you can do is bitch about how you need to use going.com. even if he is making money from it, what is the problem? it aint cool to be broke fuck face. only a fuckin idiot registers for sites like going.com with their actual email address.

You do realize the Going is an events based social network right? Not some covert email harvesting marketing company or anything like that. Emails aren't very important it's just about getting people onto the site. When you signed up for MySpace or Facebook or LinkedIn or whatever you submitted your email right? Yes because it's required. The funny thing is all those sites are national where as Going is local so it's really more useful for everyday life (if you enjoy going out that is). And as BV said you can opt-out of the one weekly event listing email you get. It's really one of the less intrusive online entities out there.
...and yes I do work with them, but that's how I know this shit.
