What is the name of that killer 90s rave anthem LCD played right before New York I Love You?
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2007 5:32 PM
5:32, it's called "Yeah (Crass Version)". It's from the self-titled album. I love that song. I also go to see Jonathan Peters at Pacha, so I suppose I would like it... =0)

I saw Wild Light, they were alright, kind of unoriginal...
LCD Soundsystem was the shitz, and of course, Arcade Fire was amazing. I was right in front when he sang in the crowd during Wake Up!

LCD were so good...I really would have like to have seen them as the headline, but let's face it, Arcade Fire are huge.
Second time seeing Arcade Fire and I couldn't help feeling underwhelmed. It was probably due to the fact that LCD's set wore me the hell out and apparently people don't like being able to move when Arcade Fire plays.
Overall the show was amazing: Les Savy Fav and Blonde Redhead were both awesome
I didn't get off of the island until 12:40, 2 hours after the show ended, which is why I refuse to ever go back to that horrible place.

No. I am almost positive 5:32 is asking for the song right after Yeah, right before New York I Love You. I need to know too.
Posted by Eduardo Osorio | October 7, 2007 6:58 PM
True. Never coming back to Randall's. Unless Radiohead stupidly decides to play there.

Does anybody know Blonde Redhead and/or Les Savy Fav's setlist?
Posted by Kabir | October 7, 2007 7:27 PM
I was also underwhelmed by Arcade Fire. I was close but on the side and the sound wasn't great, lots of bass. But I also think that they don't work so well in a large, outdoor venue and that they could have changed more of the songs up from the studio versions.
LCD totally rocked and was more appropriate for the venue. I would say, for me, they stole the show.

5:32-- The song after Yeah was a cover of "Throw" by Paperclip People.

Does anyone have the LCD setlist? I'm a little foggy :)

Wild Light sounded exactly like the Arcade Fire. Melody, beat, tempo, everything. It was almost like a cover band.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2007 8:47 PM
les savy kicked so much ass. blonde redhead also were solid. lcd was the best of the show. so phenomenal. arcade fire were good, but they sounded kinda muddy in the mix.
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2007 9:46 PM
Wild Light were dull. Blonde Redhead, whom I like very much, played a very repetitive set (given that their catalogue is way more varied), so if you didn't see them, you missed nothing (esp. if you caught them at McCarren). LSF, LCD and AF were great. It was pretty easy to get off the island if you walked into Manhattan.

How were Les Savy Fav? What did Tim do this time?
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2007 9:50 PM
Les Savy was very entertaining, Blonde Redhead was pretty solid, LCD was awesome except for the jerk peeing on my feet and AF was good, but not great...I think their sound gets muddled a little outdoors...unfortunately the venue sucked sucked: after 8 hours my feet were in serious pain and it took FOREVER to get back to Manhattan

Tim threw dollar store plastic animals and stuff into the audience this time... And dressed in his "body" suit.

i enjoyed every band last night (didn't see wild light though)
best shows i saw this year were...
1-last night
2 -white stripes (msg)
3- good bad and the queen (webster)

the mosh pit that broke out 30 ft directly behind the 5th/last large Arcade Fire lighty thing during the climax of "Yeah" was one of the most amazing concert experiences I've ever had
Posted by Anonymous | October 7, 2007 11:11 PM
wild light - alright, but really nothing special
les savy fav - incredible as usual, the show lost a little in the huge outdoor concert format, and the fact that the crowd wasn't really moving was a bit of a downer, but it was still my favorite of the day
blonde redhead - i was pleasantly surprised, their music translated very nicely live, shame they decided to close their set with their most boring song
lcd soundsystem - i won't do my complaining here but long story short, james murphy pisses me off
arcade fire - as with just about any show ever, i really wish they had played some songs that they didn't, but it was very solid overall

wild light was boring as all hell.
les savy fav was the best band all day. but that goes without saying. no matter where i see them they always put on a great show. it would have been better if the crowd was more into it, but it's not their type of venue. but tim utilized the stage and the large crowd. he handed me the mic during scotchgard the credit card and made me sing with him.
blonde redhead could have been better if the sound wasn't so full of bass.
lcd was entertaining, better than when i saw them at hiro last month. it could have been better if the group of fifteen year old girls in front of me didn't think it was a rave.
and arcade fire was good. the set was good, i liked the mix of older songs. by the time they came on i was too tired and too hungry to really enjoy it.

Anon 11:11, we must've been right next to each other. Agreed, very fun, and North American Scum was pretty wild too.

Arcade Fire very underwhelming. Saw them at Radio City earlier which was so much better by far. They looked a little burnt out on the same tunes... almost like they were dialing it in a little bit. Some tunes had some definite high points though. Black Mirror was terrible.
Loved Les Savy, and LCD - Blonde Redhead was WAY too bassy.

wild light were kinda meh-tacular. you didn't miss much.
les savy fav were amazing, and i didn't know if anything the rest of the day would top them. i got some video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=qi-NL3As3W4
blonde redhead were nice to see, but i wasn't in love with their show. i wasn't aware that they use so many samples, it takes away from the live show a little bit.
lcd soundsystem put on an incredible show. even if james murphy nearly did bust his ass stepping onto the drum riser.
arcade fire's stage design was incredible. loved the video screens everywhere, the sound was pretty great as well. i do wish they'd have changed the songs up a little bit from the record. also, i'd only seen them on the first tour after funeral came out, and this show had a severe lack of motorcycle helmets, which is unacceptable.

I was there for Arcade Fire who were good (agreed with all not great). LCD Soundsystem blew me away. Blonde Redhead and Les Savy were good. Did not see Wild Light.

BEST END OF SUMMER SHOW, EVER. james murphy's voice just keeps getting better and the set translated so well to the big venue.
it does help that i ended up getting a ride home. if i had to try to get on one of those buses, i probably would have shot myself.
Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 1:12 PM
funny. i didn't think the show was that great, but i was very impressed at how efficiently the buses were running.

I don't know, I thought Wild Light were pretty amazing. Beautiful songs.

LCD Setlist?

"Throw," Detroit 90s techno anthem from Carl Craig and Paperclip People.

Has everyone forgotten that this concert was once in a lifetime? Aside from the fact that The Arcade Fire won't be performing in NYC for another couple of years, a line up like that should pave the way for tours to come. I hope everyone that was there enjoyed themselves. I know I did - I came all the way from Richmond, VA for it.
The expertise of the bands is truly inspiring in all ways. Get out there and make some music! Prove that you can be creative (and not just complain) to your hometown, your family, your friends, and most importantly yourselves.
And if you forgot your camera for the event, that just means you'll have to rely on your memories, which you should be accessing more than blogs and youtube anyway.
If there's anything to complain about it's that events like that are so uncommon. So let's do this thing!

LCD was amazing. AF....just not the right venue, but still very good. Had to leave at the beginning of the 1st encore so as to not sit in traffic for 2 hrs. (getting too old). Was home by Midnight. To tell you the truth, we could have gone home after LCD. I was more than satisfied by then. Can't wait to see them again. Hopefully with a few beans next time!

Eduardo:
THANK YOU! This has been driving me crazy.
I think that song is older than most of the kids who were there. I felt really old.

Just one pic of Blonde Redhead? I call shenanigans!

Wild Light- Boring, generic, trying to hard to be the next Band of Horses or whatever. I can't see them going far.
Les Savy Fav- Arguably the best act of the night. During the set up before, Tim came out with this bag of cheap stuffed animals and party favors and threw them into the audience. During the show, he took his shirt off, ran around the audience, choked himself with the mic cord, and wore the suit you see pictured above. That guy knows how to entertain. All while delivering a really fantastic and rocking performance.
Don't know the setlist, but I remember they opened with "The Equestrian" and "Patty Lee".
Blonde Redhead- I didn't know much about this band before the show, and I gotta say, their music is a little boring. Their live show is pretty mesmerising. I liked how one song transitioned into the next, and they didn't say a word to the audience until the last song. Probably the opposite of Les Savy Fav.
LCD Soundsystem- I may be the only one, but I couldn't fucking stand LCD Soundsystem. I felt like I was getting bashed in the head repeatedly with a lead pipe. Also, I really wish they'd played Daft Punk is Playing at My House, or Losing My Edge, or Disco Infiltrator. There were some fun moments, particularly North American Scum, but on the whole, this set made me want to kill myself.
Arcade Fire- Spectacular. Some say they're losing their touch, but I don't know, having never seen them live before. The orchestral arrangements really translate well in a live setting. I had to leave before the encore to get home early, so I missed Wake Up and Kiss Off, but the songs I did see met my expectations
LCD Setlist:
Get Innocuous!
Us V. Them
Time To Get Away
North American Scum
All My Friends
Tribulations
Movement
Someone Great
Yeah (Crass Version)
New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down
