Morrissey reduced ticket price for one NYC show

MorrisseyPoor Morrissey. First reduced tickets to MSG, then it was completely cancelled, two of his LA shows were just cancelled, and now tickets to one of his upcoming NYC shows have been reduced in price again. Starting Tuesday October 9th at noon, you can purchase $20 tickets to the October 23rd show at Hammerstein Ballroom - at the Irving Plaza box office or online. Full priced tickets are also still available for all five NYC shows.

In more positive news (not that $20 tickets isn't good news), Morrissey "is planning a September 2008 release for his next studio album."

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 12:29 PM

or maybe anyone who passes on seeing Morrissey for $20 is the real douche bag.

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 12:54 PM

20 bucks? Yeah, that sounds about right.

Now he's wheelin and dealin.

Posted by Sal from Honda Subaru of Great Neck | October 8, 2007 12:56 PM

anyone know what the special code is to access the discount?

Posted by matt | October 8, 2007 1:03 PM

wow, who is this guy's booking agent? they must be giving morrissey a complex by now. maybe that's why he's sick all the time.

rule #1 - sell out your shows. keep people wanting more.

if you're going to charge those prices, put him in a venue more suitable and special (ie Town Hall or The Beacon or Irving Plaza even) and sell it out.

greedy bastards.

Posted by bk beedies | October 8, 2007 1:05 PM

as far as i see they're $20 off from the $65 ticket price ($45), not $20

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 1:06 PM

what part of "starting Tuesday October 9th at noon" did you not get?

if you want to buy the tickets at 45, the discount code is PNC, which you could use for any of the five days.

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 1:11 PM

what a greedy bastard. $75. ouch. also, what a bunch of crap that he had a cold right before the MSG show recently. that was just a ploy. greedy greedy greedy.

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 1:32 PM

brainy, brainy, brainy.

Posted by yoda | October 8, 2007 1:41 PM

thank you to the anonymous asshole for the password. I wanted to get it before the tickets went on sale

Posted by matt | October 8, 2007 1:47 PM

morrissey is a transvestite - true story.

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 2:11 PM

he seem's to be suffering from delusions of grandeur...is he going to book giants stadium for his next show?

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 2:15 PM

got that email this am as well... so f'n funny and a much deserved blow to that mans ego.

Posted by jr | October 8, 2007 2:53 PM

After all this shit, I don't even like him that much anymore.
Good job, Moz.

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 4:55 PM

Just to clear up any conflicting comments - I don't know anything about the "$20 off" code - that might also work, BUT this information is specifically about $20 tickets that will go onsale at the time mentioned. No code required.

Posted by brooklynvegan | October 8, 2007 6:20 PM

isn't morrissey getting a little too fat and a little irrelevant these days. i mean he doesn't even really have a new album to promote. no wonder why tik sales are slow. long live the smiths...

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 7:21 PM

he should be playing b.b.kings

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 7:31 PM

morrissey used to be really hot

Posted by Anonymous | October 8, 2007 8:13 PM

Like in the pic! lol.

Posted by Eduardo | October 8, 2007 10:06 PM

I think Live Nation/Ticketmaster f'ed up. Where are the $20 tix?

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 8:52 AM

don't see anything about $20 tickets at tm.

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 11:51 AM

I don't see any 20 dollar tix? still lists em at 65! anyone get the 20 dollar ones?

Posted by anon | October 9, 2007 11:51 AM

not seeing any $20 tickets... anyone know what's going on?

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 11:51 AM

this is bogus. it's noon and no offer for $20 comes up from this link to tickethuckster.

Posted by TitoP | October 9, 2007 11:52 AM

It's 12:04 pm and no $20 tix. Maybe the offer is only available at the box office.

Posted by Eduardo | October 9, 2007 11:52 AM

same here....all i see is $65 and $45...

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 11:53 AM

same here...all i see are the $65/$45 ones.

Posted by jenn | October 9, 2007 11:55 AM

nope..maybe ticketmaster didn't get the memo.

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 11:55 AM

Now it works. Not $20 tho, but $22. Liars.

Posted by Eduardo | October 9, 2007 11:56 AM

they're available now

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 11:57 AM

They come to $33.15 with the ticketmaster.com fees if you choose regular mail. Best to go with the box office, if at all.

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 12:01 PM

where? i still can't get it...

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 12:01 PM

love how the service charge is 1/4 of the ticket price, 22 for the tickets and 6.25 for a conveince charge and then another 5 bucks for processing and then a printing fee

ticketbastard strikes again!

Posted by brian | October 9, 2007 12:01 PM

Tickets go up to $33.15. Fuck it, I'll try the box office. People, don't buy them all! Leave one for me.

Posted by Eduardo | October 9, 2007 12:03 PM

it goes from $20 to $22, then with ticketmaster charges it's $33.15 for one ticket. i was excited before..but i'm gonna have to pass.

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 12:03 PM

work now, tix are actually $22 + charges. no password necessary

Posted by yup | October 9, 2007 12:03 PM

I complained to Ticketmaster about the price being $22 when it was advertised as $20 and they told me I had to take it up with LiveNation. They don't have a phone number, so you have to send an email through the help section of their website. I know it's only a $2 difference but I am sick of Ticketmaster's ways and I think we should all complain to them and to LiveNation.

Posted by canyouwink | October 9, 2007 12:08 PM

Thanks for the pointer! $30 after sc is areasonable price and what it should have been all along...see ya there the 23rd!

Posted by Craig | October 9, 2007 12:18 PM

omg some cheap bastards on here huh. With the service charge on the original tickets the price was like 75-80 dollars i think. now that is ridiculous. You are seeing Morrissey in a smaller place that he usually does not play for 33 dollars(22 dollars if you take your lazy ass to Irving). That is a good deal any way ya slice it. Ask the people who bought tickets when they first went on sale if you are getting a great deal.

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 12:20 PM

live nation's phone number = 1-(800) 952-5210

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 12:22 PM

Yeah - I'm surprised no one is bitching about having paid $80 for a ticket when the tix first went on sale. Or did no one buy them hence the reduction in ticket price? I'm glad I waited... just got mine for $22 at the box office! I feel like I'm 18 again.

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 12:49 PM

I always thought the best price point for this show was 45 bucks, like the Pixies weeklong stint a while back @ hammerstein... they thought it thru and did it for a reasonable price.. I didn't bite @65 bucks, but you know I bit at 22.. really bad that ticketmaster added 2 bucks, and that the fees bring the ticket price up to 33 bucks and change, but still it ain't 65 bucks!! I do feel sorry for all the fans that got duped, AGAIN, with the magic lowering of prices when he fails to sell any of the shows out.

It also seems one of the dates is no longer @ ticketmaster.com, I think the 27th? Hope he didn't cancel.

Posted by concerned citizen | October 9, 2007 2:42 PM

Poor Morrissey, you guys are being pretty rough on him. It's obvious he's got some bad people advising him/managing him/booking him, but he's still Morrissey and will always be the voice of The Smiths. Try to have a little respect for him, if not as a person, than for what he has given us musically and lyrically.

In terms of making fun of his looks - get ready because we'll all be middle-aged one day and faster than we'd like.

Posted by Cheryl | October 9, 2007 2:58 PM

you go, cheryl!

:)

Posted by cranky | October 9, 2007 3:28 PM

The 27th is the only sold out show so far so I doubt it'd be cancelled..

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2007 3:34 PM

Some of the fans (including Thomas "Lt. Dangle" Lennon) who bought the "ten-pack" of tickets to Morrissey's shows at the Palladium in L.A. are pissed off because they were not allowed to use the tickets from the ten-pack that were designated for the two cancelled shows to gain entry to last night's show, as holders of single-show tickets for the cancelled dates were. (They have to settle for a pro-rated-except-for-the-service-charges refund.)

$20, $22, $45, $65. I don't care. It is Morrissey. Almost half the artists posted on BrooklynVegan can site him as an artistic influence or a favorite musician. So, get off your high horses, people!

I paid FULL price for all five shows through ticketmaster (fees and all) because I was too late for the five-day package. And I don't care. I would pay more to see him.

If you really like an artist and their music, you pay for their music, you pay for their concerts if you can afford the tickets and you QUIT YOUR BITCHING.

Posted by Saida | October 10, 2007 3:15 PM

wait, you're going to see morrissey 5 times in 5 days? i mean, i like him as much as the next guy but...is that healthy?

Posted by Anonymous | October 12, 2007 9:27 PM

I followed the $20 special link Live Nation emailed, they were actually $22 each PLUS $11 in fees. None of this is Morrissey's fault -- it's the ruthless game that live music has become.
