Black Mountain were awesome last night at ML. My ears are still bleeding, er, ringing. They played lots of new tracks from the forthcoming lp - that ranged from good to great and included a few of their funky hard-rock dance tunes, as well as the acid-drenched pummel-core they do so well. I dug the Eno-esque synth noises from the keyboard player, as well as Stephen's mind-blowing guitar excursions. And the rhythm section and singer Amber were equally wonderful - the whole band was incredibly tight and spot on. They were selling a tour only (vinyl) EP with non-(new)-lp tracks and info on downloads.

this goes with out saying, but the new britney spears album, despite a couple of reasonably "good" tracks produced by timbaland's protoge guy, is completely shite. utterly unlistenable even though i'm listening right now.

that's a great wired article, and totally hits the nail on the head. kudos.

"that's a great wired article, and totally hits the nail on the head. kudos."

Not the part about artist-to-audience direct à la "In Rainbows." As others have already pointed out, not many artists besides Radiohead have a fanbase large and rabid enough to be able to afford to do that.
