Stars @ Town Hall

Though it happened during CMJ in NYC, a CMJ show it was not. Stars played Town Hall in NYC on Thursday night (Oct 18, 2007). They play Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn this Tuesday. More Town Hall photos by Bao Nguyen below....

Did anyone see the opening set from New Buffalo. Jens Lekman joined her for a song, apparently.

"Jens Lekman joined her for a song, apparently."

SHIT!

what show has the headliner gone on at 8:40 when the ticket sayd 8PM...shitty.

show was great even thought I missed first two songs of stars...

why wont they play The Night Starts Here? didnt play it at Osheaga either. Considering checking out the Music Hall show tomorrow night, they always put on a good time.

Posted by fishermb | October 22, 2007 12:53 PM

fisher, they played The Night Starts Here at Town Hall, it was one of the encores. Not on the set list. Like @11:34, i didn't expect Stars to go on before 9, and missed the 1st song. My own fault though, i know Town Hall runs things quickly. Anyway, Thursday's show was great. Unfortunately can't make tomorrow's show which sucks, i'd love to see them again.

They did, as an encore. They also played it in DC, you can hear it on NPR.

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2007 12:58 PM

In addition to the Night Starts Here as part of the encore and not listed on the setlist, they played and ended with Calendar Girl.

Posted by Bao | October 22, 2007 12:59 PM

calendar girl is the best song ever.

is stars actually good live though? it seems like maybe not?

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2007 1:23 PM

@1:23 I was skeptical too - this was my first time seeing them live and I was really impressed. They definitely know how to put on a good show and seemed really excited to be there. I'm tempted to go to W'burg tomorrow...

Stars was awesome live. First time seeing them in concert and they exceeded all of my expectatations.

Posted by Anonymous | October 22, 2007 1:31 PM

Yeah? Third time seeing them live and they exceeded all MY expectations too

a great live show with heart, energy, blazing lights, banter, and finally a dive right into the crowd (by Torq) and then he ran right out the back of the auditorium, still singing...

stars were fantastic. they could have turned amy's mic up a bit, but otherwise the sound was beautiful and perfect...and they played every song i really wanted to hear.

Posted by sam | October 22, 2007 3:27 PM

Great show. Torq is so animated it's almost ridiculous, but it's fun to watch. Does anyone have any photos of him hugging the dude in the audience at the end? I was one seat in front of him. It was hilarious and grossly sweaty.

Jens guested on one song with New Buffalo, "Inside," as he does on the 2006 New Buffalo ep.

Thanks to Arts and Crafts for the fan presale-- I got 7th row seats dead center and didn't have to deal with ticketmaster!

i had a great time at the concert on friday.

about that arts and crafts presale, which was blind, if you recall (i.e., you didn't know your seat assignments until you got the tix in the mail) -- i know for a fact they didn't assign the seats in the order that tickets were bought.

i bought a pair, and then told my friend about the presale who bought hers a few hours later. i got assigned seats less centered and a few rows behind hers even thought she bought her pair well after me. further, even though i know ticketmaster often releases seats in the days leading up to the concert, i checked ticketmaster and could have bought a number of pairs much better than either of our pairs.

i also sent an email inquiring about this to their customer service (because you never know) and got no response.

i still enjoyed the show, and had decent seats, but just not so sure i'll be doing the blind presale with arts and crafts anymore.

A really great show. But the sound at Town Hall sucks in the balcony. Wrong venue for that band ... wish I was down below, standing with the rest. Seen them a couple of times before ... they get better and better.

Show was incredible, sound was really good on the orchestra level. Opener of "Take Me To The Riot" blew us away. I wish they would release a new live CD with the new album songs on it. They rock hard live!

Hi, I just found this page while looking for info on The Town Hall. I am flying to NYC from England on Friday to see Ani Difranco on Sunday, which is a bit of a crazy last minute thing for me. Please could anyone give me advice on where is best to sit in the Town Hall? I am poised to but my ticket right now but want to try to be in a great position as this is a once-in-a-lifetime for me.

Thanks,

Sam
