they were absolutely horrible opening for queens of the stone age at WaMu, we went and sat down and took a nap during their boring set.. did they play just one really long song, or was there multiple during their set?

Yeah their set at QoTSA was probably the worst set i've ever heard.....hands down. almost as bad as their set as bonnaroo. i think it was multiple songs, but they all had the same (lack of) melody. so whatever.

Yeah, they were pretty boring at that QOTSA show. I really couldn't differentiate between their songs. They just had no melodies or anything.

Maybe you need to be stoned to like it?

Black Angels are as they describe, "drone and roll".
Being wasted is the only way to experience them, imo. Think Spacemen 3/Spiritualized drone.

a place to bury strangers rocked the bowery tonight. the set was great and their video projections are some the best i've seen for a live show. unlike sufjan stevens earlier at BAM, the visuals complemented the set perfectly. only glitch in the show was when the guitarist/singer had problems attaching his strap right before the closing number, ocean. the bassist and drummer tried to cover for him for what seemed like ages.

spindrift was cute and campy and kitchy, very much like a soundtrack to a tarantino film. good stuff of it's genre. think like a more upbeat calexico with a much better lead singer. this guy has an amazing voice (perfect falsetto too).

the low light of the night was definitely the black angels. the visuals here were uninspired and repetitive (do i really need to see lava lamp bubbles/blood cells over and over again?) to add to the repetition, the songs themselves all kind of blended together into on mass sprawl of well, as put in the above post, droning and more droning. i suppose these guys are good for their genre, though i wouldn't be apt to see them again any time soon.

would have been a better show with a place to bury strangers headlining. these guys are due to explode. i been wanting to catch them for awhile now and i have to say, they put on an amazing live set.
