« Yo La Tengo tickets selling, Brooklyn show on sale too | Crown Point Festival kicks off Saturday (Yeasayer & stuff) »

Anarchy and punk rock nostalgia reigned on the Sunset Strip on Thursday (Oct 25) as the Sex Pistols played a rare club show in Los Angeles to warm up for a brief reunion tour in Britain next month.About 500 sweaty fans packed the Roxy Theatre for the private show, the group's first public performance in four years. The English foursome played almost all of their songs during the hour-long set, including their best-known tunes "Anarchy in the U.K." and "God Save the Queen."
The show was predictably a little rusty, with singer John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten) forgetting the words to the first song of the night, "Holidays in the Sun." But he added some bonus lyrics along the way, notably "Paris Hilton, kiss my arse" in "Stepping Stone."
He also struggled with sound problems and the heat.
"It's hotter than (expletive) hell up here," said Lydon, 51, clad in a traditional Indian kurta, tartan pants and blue vest and guzzling red wine from the bottle.[Yahoo]

Who guzzles red wine when it's hot as balls and you're trying to perform? He's still as sick and crazy as ever apparently. Kind of wish I could have been there, but at the same time I think the Sex Pistols are one nostalgia act that should have maybe not come back...just my opinion.

Screw the haters. I supoose you'd rather be at a Vampire Weekend or Animal Collective show.
None of you Urban Outfitted clones even deserve to wipe Rotten ass.

No Sex Pistols, no whimpy NYC bands of the moment. Pay homage were homage is due...

The Johnny Rotten of 1977 would be throwing shit at the Johnny Rotten of 2007.

i can't wait till they play nyc and tickets are $75! actually, i'd pay that much to see it - no question. their record was amazing - why hate when you know you love?
Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 1:20 PM
i hear they're opening for hall & oates in nyc.
Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 1:48 PM
I think they also signed to do the Superbowl halftime in '08.

Of course you don't get it "anonymous". you are a 20 year old trust fund pussy from Maryland whose parents pay your $2200 a month rent to live in Brooklyn (a mere suburb of New York City, by the way to those of you not from NYC). Go back to your faggy Interpole-smoker and Fall Out Boy records. Or better yet, go back home where you can be the cool gay guy in your town who has a Kandinsky book and anal gonorrhea that you got in a bathroom stall from a guy who told you he would introduce you to Block Party.

I am going to scalp sex pistols tickets if they play NYC. Use capitalism against them!
Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 2:51 PM
Haha... haters.. funny thing is if you dont like it. Johny would tell you to piss off, he doesnt care one bit. Same he would have said in the 70's. So to the haters.. Who cares if you dont like it .. get lost then ... we sure dont give a f@(K what you think.
I thinks its awesome and wait till they bill with Led Zepplin in London..
Brilliant..

How many hipsters does it take to hate on the Pistols ??
It's an obscure number, you've probably never heard of it..........

i was there. if you take away the words sex pistols and said it was a new band (forget age for a second),you would think they were superb. set of great songs and f-ing powerful. Then if you add in age and Sex Pistols, they knock the crap out of almost every other band that is 30 years in. Would the Spiders sounded that good in 2007? Maybe, with Ronno still around. But what will todays bands be doing in 30 years? Rocking like a bstard? I dont think so.
I agree with the 'shut up and dont go' brigade. I loved it.
I also dont dress like a tenth rate Blondie keyboard player or member of The Knack.
Laters.

I was there and it certainly was not anarchy and nostalgia. The Indie 103.1 and Helio industry types and clueless ticket winners kept a lot of real punks away. Tickets weren’t sold and even ticket agencies had none. No one was selling tickets at any price. Although I didn't win tickets, I managed to get in. When the Pistols exploded into Holidays in the Sun, the crowd barely moved. But the band was brilliant and sounded like anything but nostalgia. Awesome show!

What you spoiled little brats don't, won't or can't comprehend is that every band you hold dear owes thanks to the Pistols. No Pistols; No Nirvana. Piss off you spineless twats.

Scary seeing some of those violent morons from the old days who are probably still violent morons.
Hope they play again downunder...
