Vegoose this weekend, online stream, DAFT PUNK!

Daft Punk

The Vegoose festival happens in Las Vegas this weekend. Daft Punk play Saturday night (they go on at 10:15pm), but I can't figure out if they'll be one of the performances streaming at AT&T Blue Room. Probably not, so at least those of us who can't be there have this thingee to keep us occupied....

LONDON - Daft Punk, the Parisian electro-house duo, have launched a widget to promote their new album, which links to pages on Facebook as well as other sites.

The widget, which can be downloaded to desktops and embedded on blogs and websites, allows users to preview tracks and buy the first single from the new live album -- 'Alive 2007'.

The widget also links to dedicated pages set up on YouTube, Facebook and MySpace. It also features a biography of the band, photos, videos and a registration form for a Daft Punk newsletter.

The move comes as an increasing number of bands make use of social networking opportunities and embrace the web as the main plank of their marketing activity.

British band Radiohead launched their latest studio album in a download-only format this month. 'In Rainbow' was only available to buy through Radiohead's website, although fans could order the album in CD format as part of a box set for £40.

Fans could choose to pay as much or as little as they wanted for the download version, in a move which dealt a huge blow to ailing high street retailers and record labels.

"The move comes as an increasing number of bands make use of social networking opportunities and embrace the web as the main plank of their marketing activity."

Hmmm, this sounds quite interesting. "social networks." the "web."

Sir, I am intrigued by your product, and would love to hear more!

Most overrated band of the past 10 years....I don't even know how people can that they're the best band they ever seen.....obviously they've never seen any of these bands that are way better....
1) Radiohead
2) Sonic Youth
3) Muse
4) Godspeed You Black Emperor
5) At the Drive-In

I don't think I need to list any more bands that are way better than Daft Punk and more talented.

Thank you and now I want to hear all hipsters start bitching.

Posted by yes. i said it. | October 26, 2007 6:24 PM

I agree that they're overrated, but not the most. My top 3 overrated are the top 3 on your list, yes. i said it.

Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 7:03 PM

Also, I'm really fucking bummed I had to work the night of the Keyspan show. I wish I could have gone.

I'm hoping it won't be another 10 years before they're back, though.

1)Rage against the Machine
2)Radiohead
3)Portishead
4)My Bloody Valentine
5)Pavement
6)Blur

With the expection of Rage, bands #2-6 will be at Coachella 2008

P.S. to.....
1) sexmachine.....hahhahahha you do know that daft punk is not original with their samples at all right? yea they're really the best thing retard
2)anon 9:05 if you think muse is awful live, you obviously need to stop thinking arcade fire is better than them or go see muse again retard
3)anon 7:03 explain to me why those 3 bands are overrated and i would like to see your favorite 3 live bands

Posted by yes. i said it. again | October 26, 2007 10:25 PM

wait, what? pavement? what?

Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 11:02 PM

I don't think Pavement are going to get back together in 2008. Malkmus said it would be a while if they did get back together.

Posted by Anonymous | October 26, 2007 11:50 PM

sonic youth's live show is overrated

muse is no longer good live..you should have seen them prior to 05

Posted by Anonymous | October 27, 2007 12:21 AM

daft punk is most certainly one of the best ever...certainly for a live show. if you've not been, get off your soap box.

i've seen them on both coasts and the reaction from all has been - "one of the best shows ever".

that fact doesn't make your favorite band any less good.

Posted by Anonymous | October 27, 2007 12:21 AM

'yes i said it' obviously didnt read up on the pixies>radiohead show of coachella 04. radiohead wont be playing coachella anytime soon.

Posted by Anonymous | October 27, 2007 12:23 AM

Daft Punk is the most overrated band often featured on this website. Battles is the most overrated band this year overall (ps- they really suck).

Best "band" this year is obviously Dan Deacon, on this website and in general.

Posted by Anonymous | October 27, 2007 2:24 AM

heres the good news- Iggy and the Stooges will be webcast on sunday. Fuck Daft Punk. Two worst acts of the year- 1. Morrisey 2. Daft Punk fans.

Posted by Anonymous | October 27, 2007 2:28 AM

Posted by Anonymous | October 27, 2007 2:24 AM

you clearly haven't seen battles live then. regardless of what you think of their music you can't deny that they are fantastic musicians (well at least the drummer)

Posted by jason | October 27, 2007 10:19 AM

keep being morons and bash daft punk. You idiots weren't at the show to give us your opinion. You might as well just stop being a fucking douche.

Posted by Anonymous | October 27, 2007 2:02 PM

no ive seen daft punk and they're not the greatest show i ever seen.....idiot

and yes two most annoying fans...
1) daft punk
2) morrissey

get over yourself

Posted by anon 2:02 | October 27, 2007 3:59 PM

they're good at what they do but they're definitely not original.....yes i know people sample for this kind of music

so get over yourself thinking they're the best thing ever cause they're definitely now....

Fk you all ur all pretenious hipster fux that don't know shit. HUMAN DIE HUMAN DIE HUMAN DIE!!!!!!!

Posted by daft punk | October 28, 2007 11:47 AM

Daft killed last night. Iggy was fun, MIA sucked, weather has been perfect all weekend, backstage passes always make the weekend more interesting. Looking forward to rages 2 hour set tonight.

Posted by Fishermb | October 28, 2007 12:43 PM

ah you know forget all the other "overrated" lists, MIA is by far the most overrated artist this year. Her set last night was garbage and a waste of time. Please lets not have any more posts about her.

Posted by Anonymous | October 28, 2007 3:01 PM

M.I.A.
Justice
Daft Punk

Very overrated

Posted by agree | October 28, 2007 3:42 PM

whatevs. i dont pay attention to whos considered "overated". i was mia and justtice at terminal5 last week and had a blast at both. i'm sure there are plenty others who would agree.

Posted by Anonymous | October 28, 2007 6:12 PM

hahhahahah you retards who think mia and justice are the greatest thing in the world obviously lives in williamsburg and shops at urban outfitters/american apparel to look cool and think they're cool cause they're the "next big thing" in your mind.....listen to some real music

1) at the drive-in
2) explosions in the sky
3) pavement
4) radiohead
5) sonic youth
6) HEALTH!!!!!!!
7) Number 12 looks like you
etc.

p.s. yes you had fun at those shows cause you....
a) have bad taste in music
b) took drugs
c) have ear infection
d) all of the above

Posted by hhahahhaha | October 28, 2007 6:47 PM

Both Daft Punk and M.I.A. were great last night. Have fun watching those douchebag rage fans moshing instead of dancing tonight.

Posted by Tyler | October 28, 2007 7:09 PM

MIA, Justice and Daft Punk overrated? stop whining cause you can't dance.

Posted by Milky B | October 28, 2007 7:46 PM

MIA- "uhh Im so cool , let me press that gun shot trigger over and over". DUDE oR CHICk- she fucking sucks! wake up to this fact. Im glad now I skipped out of Siren Fest early.

And whoever mentioned Health, you know your shit, I saw them at Kniting Factory and they were great (the cmj showcase) also, Sightings and AIDS Wolf.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2007 10:09 AM

no, muse is still amazing live. stop trying to make people feel like they didn't see them at their best if they didn't see them before '05. let be.

Posted by puja | October 29, 2007 10:23 AM

Alive now out on 12/4

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2007 12:02 PM

"Have fun watching those douchebag rage fans moshing instead of dancing tonight."

Actually the crowd wasn't bad at all for rage, and who gives a shit about the crowd, i was there for the music. MIA was an absolute disaster and screwed up security for the remainder of Saturday and Sunday, plus the set just was not good.

Posted by fishermb | October 29, 2007 5:45 PM

I have been to a lot of shows and experiencing Daft Punk in the right frame of mind is unbeatable in my opinion. It doesn't make any of the above mentioned bands any worse, but Daft is definitely not overrated. Try telling that to every one of their packed sold out audiences on this tour. You Daft haters are in the vast minority you morons, and it's not because you know something about music we don't.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2007 9:15 PM

Daft Punk was great. The sound was awesome. Highlight of the weekend.

OH oh, and also great finding out that Justice is playing New Years in LA with Peaches. Normally I hate flyers on my windshield, but I'm glad I can book my hotel in advance because of this. YESSSSSS

Posted by Cheryl | October 29, 2007 10:15 PM

Daft Punk? more like Daft Stunk...
