Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings

“First, I feel kind of angry about it,” she said, but then added, “Well, if it took Amy to get the Dap-Kings heard, then it’s a good thing. I say it’s great. Thank you.” [says Sharon Jones to the NY Times]
Sharon & co stopped by the Virgin store in Union Square last night - on release day. Stream the whole new album at AOL (before they take it off), and here is some video from the show...

I saw the Virgin show last night. It was really great but I was surprised how small the crowd was...maybe 50-60 people.

I was surprised by the small crowd too and the short set, but damn happy to Sharon and The Dap-Kings live and be able to be at the front of the stage.

I was there. Only 4 songs played and it was definitely a more subdued, in-store type show than normal, but they really can do no wrong. Everytime I see them, they literally obliterate negativity.

I just got a single off ticket master

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2007 2:42 PM

tht's weird - maybe it was someone who cancelled their ticket?

and i think the crowd was smaller b/c originally the show was supposed to be only for people who purchased the CD that day, but when the DKs got there they were in such a good mood with the news of Apollo being full up that they said to just open it up to everyone. did you get my text about it?

Thanks Anon 2:42. I just checked and got a single to the show as well. First row center! I did a check and there are at least a few single tickets still available on Ticketmaster, some in the first row too so get them if you want them.

"I have about 60 pix and 2 videos from the show "

The show was only 4 songs long. Did you actually have a chance to enjoy the show or did you just take pictures? Concerts are much better when you are not viewing them behind a viewfinder.
