Jonah Ray & Darren Mabee @ Webster Hall, NYC - Oct 2, 2007 (CRED)

“I’m not really comfortable with being Man Man’s ‘biggest fan,’” says 22-year-old Darren Mabee, alleged superfan of the bouncy, post-pop Philadelphia five-piece, although the energetic, sweat-soaked sasquatch has been spotted and blogged about at many of their shows. “It’s just all about having fun. I don’t put too much thought into this.” [Paper Thin Walls]* Roseanne Barr is at Comix

Going to see Patrick Wolf. I missed him last time at Bowery, this should be fun

The Man Man show was fun, although I wish they would have played more new material. Also that kid may be a nice guy but his whole wwf wrestler meets hipster persona is just kind of lame.

Anyone know when P. Wolf is going on? This 16 and over show is too early.

Wow, I've heard of Jonah Ray. He's pals with the ol' Dios guys. He was absolutley hrrible and no one thought he was funny in the slightest. Everyone applauded when the stage hand took the mic from him and he left the stage. Man Man was AMAZING though.

tokyo police club!

P. Wolf won't get on stage until 9 or after. Doors opening at 7:30 pm means first band won't start playing until probably 8:30ish.

"Dirty Projectors are at Zebulon"
WTF? I haven't gone to Zebulon in a long time, now I remember why. The acts they are booking are no longer of the same caliber. No offense to the Dirty Projectors, but they are not the kind of music Zebulon catered to. Indie rock has their say all over the city, leave Zebulon alone.

8:30 Bishi
9:30 Patrick Wolf

about a son isn't that good. i saw it a year ago. the idea is great, but the way it's made isn't. you don't even see an image of kurt until the very, very end. if you like looking at file photos with voice-over narration, this one's for you.

Perhaps it's Darren Mabee's band "We Are The Seahorses" that will be BV's "special guests" at his Bowery CMJ show. One can only hope...

Jonah Ray is a registered sex offender. I know this because of the way he kisses.

i thought only the anorexic hipster guys wore those retarded headbands but i guess i was wrong

So when ppl mention 2 big-ish shows and then they get added to the daily line up the peron's comment magically disappears? nice.
Hopefully there will be a Bloc Party or NOY review seeing as there were none on Interpol's MSG show or Kaisers at Beacon. I know both bands may be deemed passe for today's filthy hipster, but they're all making music that someone out there enjoys if they can rake in people to go see them.

Mekons! Mekons! Mekons! Mekons! Mekons! Jon! Sally! Tom, Rico, Lu! Susie! Steve! Go see them!

Yeah, man, applauding when someone leaves the stage really shows them how much they sucked. By this logic, Man Man must've REALLY stunk up the place judging by how hard everyone cheered when they finally got their asses off the stage.

Anyone go to the Mekons? How fun was that!
Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2007 1:18 PM
I was there, recording, and I'll post it on my site tonight. Great show, and yes it was a total hoot.
