Yo Majesty didn't show up! (but they did play Irving)
Sorry to everyone that showed up to see Yo Majesty play at R Bar yesterday! I realized Yo Majesty hadn't shown up about 30 minutes before they were supposed to go on (which was actually after they were supposed to go on because we were running late). I quickly tracked them down and found out they weren't coming at all - a huge miscommunication somewhere in the chain of people they work with. Oh well. It worked out fine anyway - we were running an hour behind, and Islands were the perfect way to finish up the party that had been going for eight hours already anyway.
Yo Majesty did play the show they were scheduled to play later in the night at Irving Plaza (the Fillmore) though. That's the show Jefferson went to see, and he took this picture....

Islands killed! Truly a great way to end the show. Crowd could've been a bit more lively but I guess drinking all day at countless shows will do that to you.

they were very late to irving as well and ended up playing for only 10 minutes or so. weak.

while all of the Spank Rock crew, along with Santogold (who was a highlight of my week), Yo Majesty, M.I.A., Blaqstarr, Amanda Blank, Sylvia from Kudu and friends were on stage, one of the security guards had to ask superman Yo Majesty to put her shirt back. the look on Naeem's face when he first noticed her ta-tas was priceless.
seriously... this was the party of the week. Spank Rock kills it every time, but this was almost too much.

I like Yo Majesty, but they think they are the second coming of Christ whenever they perform. They had the best set at SXSW though.

...even better than the look on Naeem's face was the fact that Yo Majesty put her (sports) bra on the outside of her shirt once the shirt went back on. Her bright red bra.
Amazing show though, and the Noisettes just before were great as well.
