Bettye Lavette played with Drive By Truckers, playing Lincoln Center + more Tour Dates
DOWNLOAD: Bettye Lavette - Down To Zero (MP3)
Patterson Hood & Bettye Lavette @ Bowery, NYC - Oct 26, 2007 (CRED)

Effective as Hood and Cooley were, the Truckers took on different dimensions when the lead vocals passed out of their hands. For the first time since joining the Truckers, Tucker sang lead on the pleasing “I’m Sorry Houston” and in a wizened gravelly voice, Oldham revived his oft-covered 1966 classic “I’m Your Puppet.” However, it was a guest turn by Bettye Lavette that put everyone to shame. The soul legend worked with Hood and the Truckers on her latest album, The Scene Of The Crime and she emerged from backstage for a wickedly soulful turn through “I Still Want To Be Your Baby (Take Me As I Am).” [Earvolution]Bettye Lavette is playing Linocln Center's Allen Room on February 8th. Tickets are on sale. She's also scheduled to play Conan on the 28th. All tour dates below....

Long live The Great Lady of Soul," Miss Bettye LaVette! Her star has risen and her fans, world-wide (including the new ones) are the beneficiaries.
Music lovers leave her shows with an attitude of: "Boy, am I happy that we decided to come!" I've never seen a LaVette concert where she didn't give 110%.
I'd love to see her on the Grammy Awards. She deserves to win this year, plus she'd bring the type of excitement to the show, which has been lacking in the past 20 years.
