Coachella = April 25-27, 2008 -- who will reunite?
Iggy Pop & The Stooges - Coachella 2003

Coachella dates are confirmed. Maybe My Bloody Valentine are playing it. Can you name all the musicians that have reunited at Coachella? List below....
In 2001, the festival organizers were having trouble attracting a major headlining band. Running out of time, they went to friend Perry Farrell, who reunited Jane's Addiction in order to headline that year's event. Since then, it has become somewhat of a Coachella tradition to reunite at least one band for each festival. Although the line between a hiatus and an actual breakup is somewhat blurry, a number of artists are considered to have been reunited at Coachella, or have played Coachella as one of their first major shows after a reunion. The following is a list of performers who reunited or made a big return at a Coachella festival. That is from Wikipedia.2007
Rage Against the Machine reunited after 7 years
Crowded House - Had reunited for a 12-month tour
The Jesus and Mary Chain
The Happy Mondays2006
Daft Punk - First U.S. performance since 1997[1]
Tool - Not a reunion, but their first performance in three years2005
Bauhaus
Gang of Four
Cocteau Twins - Cancelled a month prior to the show2004
Pixies2003
Iggy Pop & The Stooges2002
Siouxsie and the Banshees2001
Jane's Addiction

R E M didnt break up (though they should after Bill Berry left)
You have to think MBV is a shoe in...
The Smiths....very, very doubtful...though Morrissey maybe
Blur..shouldnt be that difficult really..would that really be that big ?
who's left to reunite ?
The Replacements? that rumor is 3 years running
Neutral Milk Hotel.... more than doubtful
Joy Division with guest singers ?
my guess is less reunions (other than MBV) and more mainstream acts (unfortunately) U2 , Pearl Jam.... maybe Radiohead again ?

reunions are popular because most of the newer bands are just not as good and can't wow a huge crowd (except maybe arcade fire)

"Husker Du playing Zen Arcade!"
Great dream. Won't happen. Grant and Bob don't get along.
The Mats won't be getting back together either. Paul and Tommy would be fun but it wouldn't be the Mats. I don't see that one happening anytime soon.
I'm just hoping that the MBV reunion turns into a tour.

"Great dream. Won't happen. Grant and Bob don't get along."
It doesn't work like that anymore... make sure they are hungry and you got a reunion tour.

My Bloody Valentine opening for Portishead
Verve opening for Coldplay
3rd headliner is unknown for the moment. Likely the White Stripes or Oasis. Radiohead talks remain, but they're leaning towards not scheduling a tour around a festival.
Tom Waits is a no, sadly.
The Chemical Brothers, Sasha & Digweed, Autechre, The Knife, talks with The Avalanches (looking doubtful, Aphex Twin in talks (but isn't he a tricky bastard?)
Boards of Canada are a no, sadly.
Rabbit in the Moon, Deerhunter, Death Cab for Cutie, Bonde Do Role, Animal Collective, Iron & Wine, A Tribe Called Quest, Battles, Mogwai, MF Doom, Jedi Mind Tricks, Stereototal, The National, Devotchka, Diplo, A Silver Mt Zion, Vampire Weekend, Tunng

Radiohead is NOT playing. although i would kill someone to change that. MBV is a good bet, Mr. Bowie is probably there, count on the Verve, sonic youth played last year, no go this year, joy division is a no go, as new order played 2 years ago, and uhh, new order IS joy division with a new vocalist.
here's i'd kill for:
BJM
Beta Band
Fugazi
Mars Volta
Animal Collective
Neutral Milk Hotel
Talking Heads
The Knife
these are just the long shots. aside from animal collective, who i don't see any reason won't be there.

Looks like you're going to be about 20% happy there Matty.
Posted by Monklish | December 31, 2007 5:38 AM
The Beatles with Sean + Julian Lennon and Dhani Harrison filling in - this will co-inside with the release of the remastered Beatles catalog digitally.
The set will open with McCartney solo doing 'Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time' as Ringo plays a tambourine and makes a peace sign.
Michael Jackson will also arrive to sing 'Say, Say, Say' and 'The Girl is Mine', but mostly to okay the set list for his publishing purposes. He will then attempt to molest Sean not realizing through his dark sunglasses that he's already 32.
This is insider information.

>>>> Galaxie 500 (are they all still alive?) <<<
yes & they are all probably younger than Sonic Youth
Dean Wareham is very active with Dean & Britta (Post Luna)
and Damon & Naomi still play & record as Damon & Naomi
but I'm not sure if they all get along.. (well.. Dean with the other two) I don't think G-5 breakup was very amicable.. but then again if Dino Jr could reunite..who knows !

Wow, things sure have changed since my first post. Apologies for how erroneous I was as this thing was forming. There's a big difference between "in talks" and signing a contract.
