My Bloody Valentine announce UK Tour Dates, album

My Bloody VAlentine

ATP Concerts are very proud to present my bloody valentine who will return to play in Summer 2008 across the UK. The band will take to three cities London, Manchester and Glasgow.

The following three dates have been announced:

Friday 20th June - London - The Roundhouse
Saturday 28th June - Manchester - Apollo
Wednesday 2nd July - Glasgow - Barrowland

Tickets go on-sale this Friday, November 16th. Tickets for all shows will be available at www.seetickets.com and venue box offices.

My Bloody VAlentineThey're also coming out with a new record. Kevin Shields talked about it on the VBS.TV special.
"We were making a record in the '90s around the time the band broke up in 1995...and I continued with Belinda [Butcher, the band's guitarist/vocalist]. It's going to be this '96/'97 record half-finished, and then a compilation of stuff we did before than in 1993-94, and a little bit of new stuff."

Shields, who's worked intermittently with Primal Scream since 1996, has barely released any of his own music since the Valentine's split. His most significant post-MBV output to date was four tracks on the soundtrack to Sofia Coppola's film, Lost In Translation, in 2003.

"I pretty much know what the one that's going to come out this year is going to sound like because it's already three-quarters done," he told Soft Focus. "It sounds like what we sounded like--different, but not radically different." [Yahoo]

Does anyone know the capacity of the 3 venues where MBV are playing?

I think the last time MBV played NYC was at Roseland, though I could be mistaken.

I think I will look forward to this release with guarded anticipation. Only recently, I recall looking forward to releases from the Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, CYHSY, etc. that ended up sounding less than impressive.

I'm not trying to compare any of those artists to MBV. All I'm saying is that sometimes, releases to not live up to expectations.

this is going to suck worse than the JAMC reunion. MBV is dead, Shields is washed up, but hey, let's fork over some money to revisist our past. suckers

To answer the question about capacity, I don't have numbers (google is yr friend), and I've only been to the Barrowlands which is similar to Roseland here. The Apollo is more towards Hammerstein, as is the the Roadhouse.

I don't think it was Roseland; it was the "new" Ritz (the old Studio 54).
