i second that that. someone get her a brain.

that is the most rediculous video i have ever seen.
is this woman insinuating that it is news-to-us that businesses (knitting factory included) in nyc actually have leases?! and buildings can go up for sale, too??
news flash: everyone has a lease. everyone's lease expires at some point. i love the knitting factory, too, and it would be sad to see it close... but, that is just the way business works.
worse than the host, though, is the woman who is basically saying that someone "has an opportunity to Step UP," with $16MILLION, and "save" the knitting factory. i am going to turn over my sofa coushins tonight and see if i can come up the down payment.

The REAL Knitting Factory died in 2003 when the original founder and owner was bought out, and when the music that made the club what it was since 1987 was no longer booked or presented.
The Knit was the best Avant-Music club in the world for a few years, and its reputation was built on improvisation, jazz, and experimental rock, along with a few other non-labeled musics.
The new owners kept the famous name, but destroyed the Knit's entire personality and spirit.
It isn't even a good rock club now.
Ten years ago, you could hear Pere Ubu there, but you could also hear Cecil Taylor, as well as a whole slew of vital downtown musicians who have all but vanished from the Manhattan/NYC scene, because there is no longer a space that exists to present them in the same way as the Knit did between the late 80's and early 00's.
Such a shame.
Even if the club remains, the name should be changed. The club at 74 Leonard Street may call itself the "knitting factory", but it is NOT the Knitting Factory!
