Are the Dirty Projectors worth seeing? A lot of people talk them up, and I enjoyed that last record, but I can't see them being THAT good live....

" A lot of people talk them up, and I enjoyed that last record, but I can't see them being THAT good live..."
if you enjoyed their last album, go with low expectations, and leave blown away

How many songs did the Clean play?
Posted by Anonymous | November 28, 2007 11:31 AM
i think the clean played for about 35-40 minutes...probably 8-9 songs...it was actually excellent. they sounded great but subdued...i guess i never appreciated the guitar work until now.
im sort of on the fence about seeing them again this week. if im not busy, ill go.
does anyone have the setlist? i know they played billy and don't point that thing at me which were both great but the other tracks were excellent. are they on the anthology?

Dirty Projectors live is a pretty wonderful experience...what they do with vocals is just wild.

The Projects are amazing live. I actually enjoy the live show more than their recorded stuff.

I just saw the dirty projectors last night in london and they were unbelievable. i saw them about a month ago, also in london, without knowing too much of their stuff beforehand and was totally blown away (hence why i returned last night, haha). definitely worth checking out if you get the chance.

tinariwen last night at highline -- WOW. their sound was so crisp and sharp, three guitarists, a bassist and a percussionist (apparently the main songwriter/guitarist and their backup female vocalist were missing) and each of them performed phenomenally. the hypnotic music immediately sends you into a trance-like state. they clap their hands throughout to keep beat and engage the audience... they make eye contact and dance earnestly onstage. they speak predominantly in french, occasionally peppering in an "it's good?" or "thank you so much" in english. their colorful garb and fluid presence made for an incredible show. was really surprised to see such a diverse crowd that packed the venue on a tuesday night and rocked hard to the music. i feel honored to have had the opportunity to see them perform live.

Yes, do go and see the Dirty Projectors!! I agree with the 'better than on record' comment.

tinariwen was great. sad to see that not many people here bothered to see them. such a natural and tight performance. the industry and hippie-laden crowd was a little much...

The free Tinariwen show last evening at Other Music was very enjoyable. They started around 8:10 and probably played for over 35 minutes, "encoring" twice, acknowledging the loud round of applause. While it took a song or two, the crowd actually started moving to their infectious sound. While I wish I would have gone to the show at the Highline as well, I am quite happy I got to see them play live.
