Lupe FiascoGhostface Killah

We don't have many releases left to look forward to in 2007 (hence the appearance of so many end-of-year lists), but in the world of on-the-indie-rock-radar hip hop, there are actually two potentially (I haven't heard the leaks) awesome albums still coming out (and one of them is not the new Daft Punk). They are: Ghostface Killah's The Big Doe Rehab (out Dec 4), and Lupe Fiasco's The Cool (out Dec 18).

Vampire Weekend added a 2nd NYC show at Bowery Ballroom (Jan 30). Tickets go on sale Friday. The first one (Jan 29 - the same day their new album comes out) is almost sold out. Wu-Tang Clan (and more VW) tour dates HERE. Info on Lupe's upcoming NYC show, HERE.

Anyone know how close the album will be to the Blue CD-R? Will it have most/all of the same songs?

are you trying to make some quiet racial point by combining all your vampire weekend stories with stories about rappers? cuz that's kind of silly if you are.

The fact that Vampire Weekend is popular makes me want to stop listening to music.

I think their songs are good for a few listens, but not too exciting after that.

glad you ask, Anon 9:15pm -- I wondered something similar yesterday; today confirmed the connection.

Explain, BV -- we're supposed to remember some initial description of their "African rhythms" or something? (or that vid of girls' spinning/twirling/jumping etc at their show?)

Did anyone notice that Vampire Weekend is basically just Dispatch?

Posted by Anonymous | November 29, 2007 1:05 AM

I just was watching Vampire Weekend on MTV (mtv actually shows music videos in the morning). i have to say that they really really suck.

Posted by blunts | November 29, 2007 9:46 AM

there are bands worse than vampire weekend, but hard as i try, i can't think of any.

this leads me to believe that maybe they are one of the crappier bands out there.

Posted by Anonymous | November 29, 2007 10:02 AM

how does a band like this sell out the bowery and get all this exposure? how does that happen? can someone explain please?

Posted by blunts | November 29, 2007 10:28 AM

as someone that liked VW then realized it had zero longevity and that it grew old REALLY quick , I think i see why it is becoming so big. it's easy, catchy and they are aping a musical style to an indie crowd that hasn't been aped somewhat recently so it feels really "Fresh" and "exciting to write about"

sadly-the songs grow very old very fast

Posted by Anonymous | November 29, 2007 12:44 PM

i don't think so, i think they're a good band

Posted by Anonymous | November 29, 2007 1:21 PM

Yo! Rap sucks.
