Bon Iver (not @ Bowery Ballroom) (CRED)

I was sad I had to miss this show (Dec 7, 2007), but it was in the name of Sly Stone.

Bon Iver was incredible. Elvis wasn't as good as the last Bowery show where he opened for Cold War Kids. Dearland seemed to have a different line-up than I'd seen before. Generally thought Elvis' set lacked energy/enthusiasm. Songs seemed to be delivered pretty blandly without much conviction.

show was excellent. The newly recorded foot-stomping, dance around-the-stage version of All the Night Without Love was amazing. I grabbed it here:::

I thought it was a solid show by both of them. Unfortunately Elvis seemed to lose the crowd at times. I think it was more the crowd than him though and he did get them back. That said, there was one guy babbling idiotic frat boy absurdities very loudly at some very quiet and beautiful moments. Anyone else hear him. There's always one, but this was just too ridiculous. Short hair, wearing a blazer,on the back right. If it was you, tsk, tsk!

The crowd absolutely sucked that night, which is not the norm for bowery ballroom. No matter where I tried to move people could not stop talking throughout Perkin's set. It really ruins it when its mainly an acoustic act. All I could hear were social groups introducing each other while he played or texting on their cels during the entire show.
I don't get it. The tickets sold out online couple days earlier so I assumed the real fans bought them instead of the friday night crowd who just happens to wander in the day of.

The crowd was horrible. There were loud idiots in the back throughout most of the show and some stupid drunk girl wound up standing next to me, spilling beer on herself and trying to instigate fights with all the girls around her. It's weird - this was a pretty chill line-up, so how did it turn into such a frat party?
Additionally, I don't see how so many people claim to like Bon Iver more than Elvis Perkins. I mean, he's okay, but come on, watching him live is watching some dude in a college dorm. And that high-pitched voice he's always doing gets real annoying after a while.
