Boredoms

Boredoms, the Japanese drum-heavy band behind one of 2007's most talked about shows, are scheduled to play Terminal 5 in NYC on March 30th ("in the round), and the 9:30 Club in DC on April 3rd. I can only assume that those dates are part of a larger tour. NYC tickets are ON SALE. Stay tuned for more info and dates.

C'mon, lets start hearing it from the anti Terminal 5 blowhards. Where are you?

Posted by kwhitehead | December 21, 2007 11:07 AM

Terminal 5 is actually a great room to see Boredoms in the round.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 11:10 AM

i won't complain about venue. i just won't ever go there again. pretty simple.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 11:12 AM

I hope Vice has nothing to do with this show. Still hard to forgive the Boredoms for using those idiots.

Got my tix, thanks! They are probably going to play SXSW.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 11:18 AM

Terminal 5 sucks ass, but the Boredoms rule. So,Terminal 5 here I come.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 11:19 AM

some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 11:25 AM

VICE is the Boredoms' record label.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 11:30 AM

oh man, that brooklyn bridge show was so great.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 11:32 AM

so "in the round" meaning they will be playing on the floor and not the stage with 78 drummers this time????

Posted by k | December 21, 2007 11:36 AM

yeah, Vice should have really made Brooklyn Bridge Park larger so that it could accomodate you.

what inconsiderate assholes they are.

terminal 5 does generally suck, but should be actually kinda perfect for this kinda show.. if boredoms are in the middle of the floor then there might actually be some decent sightlines for everyone.. also i gotta hand it to bowery after justice i swore id never go back unless it was for something rare or really special and fun, and now they keep managing to put shows like that up there, like this one, and ween, and gogol bordello.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 11:56 AM

11:56,

Why do you "have to hand it to bowery" for this? This venue sucks big hairy ass and them booking great stuff there is even worse in my opinion! I skipped Ween and will be skipping Gogol Bordello because I hate this place so much. It's not just the sightlines (which could be corrected if it's an in the round show), it's the sound, it's the location, it's the fact that it's impossible to get a drink in there. Fuck Bowery Presents for putting their name and shows on at this shithole. They are the dominant presenter in this city right now hands down and this place is the angry red zit on the ass-crack of an otherwise phenomenal booking group. I think everyone should seriously before buying tickets to anything at Terminal 5. Ask yourself how much of your time will be ruined by shitty location, shitty sound, shitty view, and shitty bar. Then get real drunk beforehand and try your hardest to have fun.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 12:10 PM

i just meant i gotta hand it to them cuz they keep managing to drag me up there by putting cool shows there. like i said after justice i thought "i'll never go back, unless say, ween plays there" never thinkning they actually would. i really dont like the venue(no one does! duh) but damn i refuse to miss boredoms and ween! sheesh.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 12:33 PM

i've been to a few shows at T5 and have never had a hard time getting a drink. I think Justice was the 2nd show they ever had there and maybe they were understaffed because the place was brand new? Sometimes it takes a little time for a place to "work out the kinks".
There are the same type of problems that one encounters at all larger venues, but having said that, I would much rather see a show at T5 than Roseland or Hammerstein (or even Webster).

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 12:44 PM

get a drinking at the justice show was a joke. i think it too me a little over an hour to get one drink. i got on line before the opener started, and got a drink a couple of minutes before justice started their set.

yeah, they were understaffed, and hopefully that was fixed, but also i think problem with justice show was that it was a dance act on a saturday, so pretty much everyone wanted a drink.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 12:51 PM

terminal 5 shows are all ages, yes?
it seems i'll be making a trip into to city to catch this one...

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 12:52 PM

Greetings T5 haters! Where should this show have been, if not T5?

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 1:01 PM

the two shows i went to at T5 getting a drink was very easy. twas one of the place's few pluses.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 1:01 PM

This is getting laughable. Apart from the obvious Bowery Presents shills on here, most people know T5 sucks ass. Where should the show have been if not at T5. Well Webster Hall could have been one place. Think to yourself for a second. How much would you love it if you lived in Washington, DC or Minneapolis right now. You would not say oh god not another show at the crappy T5 that i have to go to cause I really want to see this band. You would say oh my god they are playing the 9:30 or First Ave clubs. I have to do everything possible to get a ticket to that show cause it is going to be amazing in that place.
And that is why T5 is awful.

The sightlines at T5 are shit so what makes you think them playing on the floor is gonna be better. You know BP is not going to sell less tickets to make it less crowded in there. So unless you are close to the front on the floor everywhere or you get there hours early to secure a spot by the railings on one of the upper levels you aint gonna see shit. It will be like being at Silent Barn x3000

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 1:21 PM

think this is gonna sell out anytime soon??? good shows shouldn't be allowed to go on sale this time of year, damn holidays left me broke.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 1:22 PM

Why do you assume they are not reducing their capacity? If it were at Webster Hall it would sell out in an hour and instead you would be on this website crying about not having tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 1:25 PM

At what point do all of you whiners and complainers of terminal 5 realize that this place holds approx 3,000 people and all 50 or so of you consistent complainers make absolutley zero impact on the venue or the bowery presents.
Quit bitchin'...your complaints fall upon deaf ears.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 1:27 PM

hey anon 1:21

dc is only three hours away.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 1:27 PM

judging by most press i read about T5... people love the place. the only complaints I see are from the people who are probably the ones who complain about practically EVERY venue in town.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 1:36 PM

12:10 wins best post of 2007 - hands down

fuck terminal 5; i'll be traveling to dc and calling out sick the following day.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 1:49 PM

t5 is not that bad. been there a few times now. there are like 10 bars. if THAT is your biggest worry find one without a wait. ween was a little bit of a pain cause everyone is was boozin' hard...but otherwise...sound wise...yeah it is not the best. but it is a young venue...i would rather go there than roseland...they just need some time...i just got my tix....i *heart* bowery presents

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 1:57 PM

Actually I would really really like to say THANK YOU to Bowery Presents. If it was not for their greed and desire to be Live Nation's ugly little brother I would not be seeing some amazing shows soon. Because when they put bands on in the shithole known as T5 my friends and I automatically get tickets to the next closest venue and city. It is always in a smaller and better place and not that far of a ride. I get to use my car, get it out of the traffic filled city for a spell and have a fun little road trip. Plus i get to see a much better show. For example, The Mars Volta show i am going to see at Toads Place in New Haven and the Boredoms at Starland Ballroom in Phila. Much better sounding venues and smaller to boot. These shows will be a million times better than the T5 shows and will be a much more pleasing experience for the concertgoer.

So thank you Bowery for being complete assholes.

And for those of you complaining, rightfully so, about T5. The longer you continue to support the venue and buy tickets to the shows the more Bowery will keep fucking you in the asshole. They throw idiots on message boards to make stupid statements such as the one by Anon 1:36 and 1:27pm. They count on you to be apathetic. Trust me, the minute these bands start playing to half empty or less houses that is when T5 goes away.

RE: 12:51

for all of you new yorkers/east coasters: the proper phrase is "waiting IN line" not "ON line". im assuming this misuse started long before the internet, but its ridiculousness has only increased since the internet has become so prominent. always has annoyed me, and i feel it needs to be addressed.

regarding terminal 5, i saw MIA there at CMJ and was happy with the show, but only cuz i had good seats - sightlines/sound blow though.

"I get to use my car, get it out of the traffic filled city for a spell and have a fun little road trip."

FUCK YOU

Posted by Al Gore | December 21, 2007 2:29 PM

why don't you just get out of the city and STAY out of the city for good! There are enough angry, stupid fucks to go around.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 2:33 PM

" They throw idiots on message boards to make stupid statements such as the one by Anon 1:36 and 1:27pm"

do you actually think that the company hires people to make comments on BV? If you do... then you are the idiot. Did you ever think that maybe there are just people (the majority) who aren't personally offended when a local company expands to open a place that allows them to have bigger shows that people want to see? You are probably one of the conspiracty wackos who think 9/11 was an "inside job"... right?

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 2:36 PM

Anon 2:33pm and Anon 2:36pm-Waaahhhh Waaaaahhhh BP employees. Stop moaning and bitching We know it is you. And who says Bowery hires people to make comments on here?
And what is this majority you speak of? Most of the comments i see on this and other music boards both before and after a T5 show are negative.

"why don't you just get out of the city and STAY out of the city for good! There are enough angry, stupid fucks to go around."

Where did it seem like I was angry??? I am very happy. I am going to see these bands at better places and i am going to see a better show. I took the time to say thank you to you BP assholes.

Again people, they are counting on your apathy.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 2:52 PM

can we assume that "in the round" means they will be playing on the floor with everyone around them?

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 2:54 PM

Oh and by the way, speaking of this majority of people who want to see these bigger shows at T5. Cat Power is not sold out. Mars Volta is not sold out. Editors is not sold out. Boredoms is not sold out.

Thank you.

fyi... starland ballroom is in sayreville, nj. you will be seeing boredoms at the starlight ballroom in philly. enjoy.

Mars Vota=SOLD OUT

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 3:01 PM

Boredoms = on sale for like 3 hours

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 3:05 PM

They must have just made Mars Volta a sell out although probably a bullshit sell out meaning huge guest list and comps plus I would bet my life that the day or 2 before the show a ton of tickets will go back on sale.

"Where did it seem like I was angry???"

It seems reasonable to assume that someone who spends their afternoons talking shit about a rock club on a message board is angry.

Posted by Anonymous | December 21, 2007 3:30 PM

"It seems reasonable to assume that someone who spends their afternoons talking shit about a rock club on a message board is angry."

Not that this logic above makes even a bit of sense but how is it talking shit if the place really is shit. That seems to me to be speaking the truth.

I went to T5 opening night for the national, it was fine, not great not bad but fine. I've lived in other cities and i think people in ny are just pampered by how nice of a place the bowery ballroom is......and now for the slew of accusations that i work for bowery presents, that i'm an idiot etc., etc, etc

Bowery Ballroom is awesome
Terminal5 is a hole

definition of a moron......as someone already pointed out Mars Volta is sold out & Cat Power & Boredoms went onsale today.... if a band can move 3000 tickets in half a day they should be playing Madison Square Garden not Terminal 5...

Yes of course RT is a moron. Mars Volta just sold out a week after tickets went on sale but again as it was stated above it was what we call a bullshit sellout. Watch the day before the show on ticketmaster and see what I mean. You will be able to get tickets no problem and even outside the venue for much less. That is if anyone even wants them. Huge guest and comp list and BP sold a bunch to ticket brokers. This was not a fast sellout or a hot ticket by any means.

Same thing for Cat Power and Boredoms and these went on sale days ago and not sold out yet. Again not a hot ticket.

"wow i guess you new yorkers are pretty spoiled then. id kill to be able to bitch and moan about really cool bands playing not so hot venues."

What does this statement even mean???? Are you are saying you live in Antarctica or something? Are you just a moron like RT?

logan square show is in the round

Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2007 3:19 AM

please tell me what drugs you guys are taking I'd like to invest in some for the holidays... first of all , what proof do you have that Mars Volta is a "bullshit" sellout ? sure lots of sold shows have tickets released a fews days before because of record co. and band letting some of their ticket holds go...even the hugest most popular bands..but I doubt its a ton of tickets ..it wouldnt make sense to list a show as sold out so early if there where tons of ticket holds..it would prevent fans from buying more tickets...the show is still 3 weeks away. and since when is selling 2500 to 3000 in one week not a hot ticket ? or even more absurd to call a show not hot when it isnt sold out after a few days (Cat Power was onsale on a limited presale until yesterday morning) if Boredoms went onsale on wed it wasn't very well announced until yesterday. Very few bands sell 3000 tickets in a few days...if they do then its pretty obvious that their demand is so strong they can likely sell twice or maybe 3 times that amount over a longer period of time There's a reason shows go onsale months in advance.
Plus we are heading into christmas week things tend to slow down a bit in many ways. I;m not here to argue whether Terminal 5 is a good venue or whether Bowery Presents do a good job , but to actually think a show is not a hot ticket because it hasnt sold 3000 in a mere few days is moronic & also to state a show that was listed one week after sales as sold out a "bullshit" sellout with no real proof just insane..even if there were 200 tickets on hold that still means Mars Volta sold 2800 in one week. I'm also not saying that some shows at T5 could have been in smaller venues (like Blonde Redhead, which as been onsale for about 2 months) but to use the examples you are using (Mars Volta , Boredoms , Cat Power) just aren't valid at this point

Posted by RT | December 22, 2007 7:53 AM

Shows do not need to sell out to be successful.

"The sightlines at T5 are shit"

The sightlines are not shit. Maybe if you are short, but as a tall person, I had no problems with the one show I saw there (technically two, since I saw Prince there when it was called Exit). That said, I didn't care for Terminal 5. Roseland is closer, has a better bar, and has a working coat check.

Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2007 9:45 AM

The internet sucks... too many stupid people putting in their two cents. I mean, really, most of you are so clueless that I would be embarrassed for you if you weren't all anonymous. If you had any idea how wrong you were, you would be ashamed.

Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2007 11:12 AM

if you people haven't noticed they release tickets the day before every show, pretty much every venue across the country. it may be 4 tickets, it may be 100. it depends on label holds, band holds, venue holds, ticketmaster holds.
I think its great because I've probably seen twenty or more shows that i bought tickets the day of and didnt have to worry about an hour sell out.

Of course shows do not need to sell out to be successful. Thank you Capt. Obvious for that. The bigger the venues the more overhead and the more they have to reach sell out capacity to be successful which includes a venue like T5.

Yes the sightlines are shit for most people.

And i am not doubting your veracity in any way but when Prince played there it was not called Exit. It was called Club Black.

Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2007 12:57 PM

And when I say no nothing I mean know nothing.

Posted by Anonymous | December 22, 2007 12:59 PM

this is getting pretty fun. i want to eat an arepa full of the sadness of those who have not seen them in a cellar in japan 9 years ago when they still sounded like a blender full of baby limbs (that's a good thing).

Posted by shitler | December 24, 2007 1:48 AM

I havent been there yet to Terminal 5 yet, so looking forward to that Boredoms show, but I am kind of suprised The Mars Volta sold out there. Didn't they have trouble selling out Irving Plaza? Oh well, good luck to them what with the bad sight lines and long beer lines....

Posted by Anonymous | December 24, 2007 1:49 AM

they sold out terminal 5 because it is an awesome venue.

Posted by Anonymous | December 24, 2007 9:57 PM

Wow. So this is gonna be the crowd at the show...lame.
Just enjoy. Yeah it would've been cooler at Bowery Ballroom but it's not. Go to Philly if it bothers you that much, it's not that far.
I hope that "in the round" means on the floor, 'cause they're playing the Fillmore in San Francisco, and I can't seem to wrap my head around that one.

Posted by AAaaooww | December 30, 2007 6:42 PM

As usual, I'm unfortunately quite late to this little game. Oh yeah, I forgot - I had actual life to live.
But, I'll sacrifice two minutes to simply state that yet again so many of you are behaving like children, while skillfully speaking out of your asses. It's quite obvious that most of you have little knowledge of the live music business. Your regularly scheduled knee-jerk responses to trickles of information is laughable. Your understanding of what it takes to mount a tour, and perhaps actually make a living as a promoter, venue owner, booking agent or for fuck's sake, a musician is minute. I expect many of you listen to mp3s and think the technology sounds good. And I'm positive most of you think the music you don't enjoy "sucks, man".
Essentially, you're too young or from too far out of town to have enjoyed great bands in great venues. There are more bands now, some are even good, but certainly less are great. You'd all be less vitriolic had you the chance to see The Boredoms (when they had guitars) at a place like Maxwells.
PS to all those who emigrated from some dull shithole to enjoy NY or other East Coast cities: don't be so willing to give yourself away. We stand ON line, we used to drink a REGULAR coffee, and we eat a SLICE (there's no such thing as "cheese pizza"). And we never drank PBR. When in Rome, kids. At least until you too can't afford to pay the empire.

Posted by AAaaooww | January 2, 2008 12:00 PM

it all kinda depends where u stand in T5. i was at the opening of the venue with The National standing on the floor up front right in the middle and the sound was great. then i was there for Ween and i was on the right side of the stage towards the front and the bass sounded WAY too loud and overbearing, so i worked my way more towards the middle and the sound got a lot better.

also supposedly the sound is much better on the balconies, but i'm not a balcony guy, always go for the floor...

Posted by Anonymous | January 3, 2008 11:34 AM

I sat on the right end at justice, on the barrier. This pretty much sucked dick and the bass was waaaayy to loud. The fact that T5 have booked explosions in the sky and the boredoms is bullshit. It least Justice was house music unlike EITS who are beautiful guitar music, im particularly worried by this one. being 16 im just glad to be getting so I shouldnt be complaining ive been kicked out of webster more than once

Posted by Anonymous | January 4, 2008 8:15 PM

i have two hard tickets for the boredoms at terminal 5 on March 30th. I just found out i wont be in town that weekend and need to get rid of tickets. I paid over 60 after charges and all that b/s... give me 50 for both and free shipping.
