I love the Clash, so I really really really wanted to like this band, but they are like the Clash for 2nd graders.

This isn't Clash. Its watered-down Big Audio Dynamite, which showed Jones true colors.

They don't play any Clash, that sucks!

Why would they play any Clash? Fucking Morons....

"Why would they play any Clash? Fucking Morons...."
Joe Strummer played Clash songs despite having numerous solo albums.
B.A.D. sucked IMHO.

It was a good show.
They don't need to play Clash songs. They have their own material.

I really liked B.A.D. -- the initial incarnation with Don Letts. BAD II and everything else, not so much. I came *this* close to checking out the show tonight but I must admit I'm not such a fan of C/S though I like the free download attitude. But it woulda been interesting to see them.

Someone sent me the promo for the album and it is completely dreadful. These two washed up old farts should be embarrassed they were ever associated with "punk."

It was a good, solid show. They really looked to be having fun. And hats off to them for doing new material instead of trotting out greatest hits from their previous incarnations.

I second saltnpepper's comments...it was great new music, energetically performed and well received by an enthusiastic audience who enjoyed the show and didn't feel the need to scream "Play Janie Jones", etc., over and over. If Mick wants to play Clash songs, that would be cool; but since he chooses not to, let's respect that and pay attention to the new material.

Big Audio Dynamite is a great band that tried too hard and got distracted by their toys. Mick Jones wrote the best Clash songs, which makes it all the more disappointing that Carbon/Silicon isn't very good. All their stuff is free on their website which is nice though.

The Cklash are my favorite band of all time. Still, any member including Paul simonon whose playin with Good Bad and the Queen reserve the right to not drag out old songs if they dont want to. I play music too. Playing stuff from previous bands can make ya feel stagnant, like wearing old clothes. i haven't heard this band yet, and dont know what to expect, but I wouldn't expect anyone starting a new project to fell as though they have to play material from a previous project. The Clash music would be best served today if Topper Headon, Mick and Simonon brought someone like Pete Doherty to play Joe Strummers role for some one offs. It could never be the same anyway. Look at old Clash footage if ya need an explanation as to why.

Carbon/Silicon = embarassingly bad, but better than 99% of the shit BV beats his meat too.
Some of that BAD shit was better than alot of that Clash stuff. Sandanista and Combat Rock were real stinkers.
And the C/S album is awful. Mostly the production's fault. The lyrics are also cheesy as all get out, but that;s forgivable.
;)

I haven't seen Carbon/Silicon yet, but having dug through their website (and some live boots from friends), I definitely support what they do.
As a writer/musician who's covered the Clash, and many of their subsequent projects (from BAD, to Havana 3AM, and beyond), I've got to say it's great to see people getting over musically without falling back on their illustrious pasts.
For those who want recreations of THE CLASH or LONDON CALLING every night, there's any number of tribute bands making the rounds...the Clash were (and are) my favorite band, too, but let's not fall into the same "phony Beatlemania" trap that's snared so many others. (As John Lennon himself once said..."You've got all the old records if you want to reminisce.")
