JAY REATARD (sort of) signs to Matador, MP3, video

Jay Reatard put out one of my favorite songs of 2007 (in 2006) (download above). Jay Reatard had one of the most talked about (and short) live shows of 2007. Jay Reatard has signed to Matador.
After months of public speculation, late night phone calls and a fascinating thread on a bulletin board other than our own, we’re pleased to announce Matador will be releasing six limited edition singles in 2008 by the wildly prolific Jay Reatard.nice. video below....Manufactured quantities of each single will diminish with each successive release. We’ve not figured out the exact scheme yet, but given our commitment to the customer-always-being-angry, rest assured the numbers will be lower than you’d like.
For those not nearly hung up on the collector skum scenery, all 6 7″’s will be compiled for a subsequent CD and LP release.

I thought the matador deal has been established for sometime now?
What happened to the rumors of him signing to UMG?
Also, i saw him live and wanted to really like him. i was just annoyed. but im still open to giving him another chance

i saw him twice...the cakeshop show and merc lounge for cmj...i dug the live show but its definitely not something i feel the need to see again.
