The Bedlam in Goliath
Beginning the first week of January, visitors to the Amazon.com music page (http://amazon.com/music) will be the first to experience "Goliath The Soothsayer," an online game based on The Mars Volta's forthcoming The Bedlam In Goliath. The game will be available exclusively via Amazon.com from January 2nd through January 29th, the official street date for the new record. Pre-order is not necessary to play to the game."Goliath The Soothsayer" is based on the true story that inspired the narrative laid out on The Bedlam In Goliath. Like previous Mars Volta efforts De-Loused In The Comatorium and Frances The Mute, the album is a thematically linked whole, the songs chapters in a bigger story, inspired by real people, places and events. The Bedlam In Goliath chronicles The Mars Volta's time with the "Soothsayer" a/k/a the Ouija board owned by vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, and its mutation from a source of amusement during the tour supporting the band's Amputechture album into a malevolent psycho-spiritual force that nearly tore the group apart, collectively and individually.

This is great news. I saw their headlining show a few years ago at Roseland and it blew me away. Don't be fooled if you've only seen them the times they opened up for the Chili Peppers. The sound was always horrible for those shows, for some reason. If you've ever liked anything Mars Volta have done, don't miss this.

...and this new album rocks! It has a few songs under 4 minutes...maybe even 3! Works for me!

Yeah im so excited for the new record but seriously a big FUCK YOU to playing Terminal 5....i mean cmon now..could it not have been multiple nights at webster hall or even hammerstein
This is a band that needs to be heard in a great sounding place or at least not in a giant shit echo cavern.. I have seen them a few times and its astounding and then i saw them open for the chilli peppers at the arena and it completely sucked simply cause the sound was horrible in the place
Really upset about this.

its crazy how small the venues they're playing are (minus nyc)....this is such a rare opportunity to see them in such an intimate space.

The sound wasn't bad at Terminal 5 when I was there for Justice. Maybe a notch too low in volume. But I almost lost hearing the first time I saw TMV so I have some faith in this show.
