I've been madly in love with M.I.A.'s music since Arular (which wasn't nearly as good as Kala), and I think it's also heavenly to watch her. But when I see her comments about MTV sabotaging her video, I have to think, what did she expect? The whole recent meeting between M.I.A. and MTV was (as a commenter on my blog actually put it) a travesty. She should have kept her distance from them.

And then there are all these strange comments she's making about never doing another album after Kala, and her statement in Philly that the present visa experiation could mean she'll never play the U.S. again...

It makes me start to think, if she wants so badly for us to stick with her she should not keep suggesting that she's not going to stick with us.

But hey nobody's perfect... I can't imagine how exhaused she must be with that kind of tour schedule and all this crap going on. So, who can blame her if she's a little stressed? Besides, who cares if she's not the paragon of level-headedness? Seems to me to be completely beside the point.

Meanwhile, she's made a permanent impact on me. Without the samples in "Bird Flu" and "Bamboo Banga," I would never have learned about Tamil film music. And that's just a small part of it...
