Sidetrack, Dirty Projectors, Bowery show, Julianna Barwick, Grizzly Bear, Daniel Rossen & Ed's top 15 (MP3s)
DOWNLOAD: Sidetrack (Dirty Projectors) - Too Much Pressure (MP3)

This song will appear in the soundtrack for an independent film, 'Vernon Avenue' by Steffani Jemison and Amiel Melnick that takes place in Bed Stuy. The words are adapted from a scene in the movie where a man is teaching a girl how to play the guitar. I wrote the music, SideTrack and I co-produced. They are playing second at the Bowery on Tues, after Julianna Barwick and before White Williams." -Dave Longstreth of Dirty ProjectorsThis song is the perfect addition to one of my favorite albums of the year.
Tonight's show is still not sold out (Dec 4, 2007). Sidetrack was also scheduled to back Grizzly Bear on Conan O'Brien - the show that never happened due to the writer's strike. Grizzly Bear recently offered up these two sweet tracks.....

That JoJo cover is really good.

I'm a square because I detest one of the worst bands on the planet..whatever

Looks like someone touched a nerve there.

i understand when friends of mine really can't listen to the dirty projectors, it's not "easy", it's not "pop" but don't call them bad. What they are doing is insanely innovative and musically ambitious and I happen to love it while my boyfriend runs away, that said he's still coming to the show tonight with me!

I'm taking everyone's advice and going to this. Looking forward to it.

I've watched them live, checked out youtube clips and listened to some posted tracks..sorry I still don't get what they are doing..to me its all noise and nonsense..

you just aren't enlightened yet, it's ok

didn't realize members of the Dirty Projectors actually comment on this board.

i saw the dirty projectors open for grizzly bear last year. the guitarist got pissed off and deliberately detuned his guitar and played the song out of tune...so the sound guy just basically turned his guitar way down in the mix. it was pretty funny.

wtf is up with the need to trash a band? if you don't like it fine, but is trying to convince people that THEY shouldn't like it ever going to work? what does it do for you? are you saving people from the embarassment of actually liking something? are you still in high school or what?
besides, dirty projectors gets props for making such a wierd as fuck video series as the getty address.

does anyone have an idea when Dirty Projectors will take the stage? it might be late. my guess would be 11:30pm.

I apologize 3:24 and agree with your somewhat as it is quite childish of me..I just really hate them..its kind of personal..I also get annoyed when I see so many people on here bash the bands I admire that my only defense is to stir shit up myself..

Just got back and wanted to post.
Really fantastic show tonight. First time seeing them-- heard a couple songs over time from friends and enough buzz to pique my interest. Knew enough to expect everything and nothing.
Like his voice/approach/stage presence or not, Dave and these people who have somehow found a way to interpret whatever's happening in his head are something special. Sure you have to listen hard and accept or even set some things aside, but isn't that why we like talking about music?
I think there was a definitely a quiet awe in the crowd, as no one wanted to be the one who was uncool enough to admit out loud how that this was a moment. Whatever that means these days.
Lead guy from Grizzly Bear was friendly heckling towards the end. Kind of odd, changed the vibe in the last couple songs-- he was funny at first, but then there was some kind of joke between them that the rest of us weren't in on? But they obviously have some kind of relationship or mutual admiration. So whatever, he was drunk-- no big deal.
Anyways, hope the end isnt all everyone reports on tomorrow. The show was good enough that it (ideally) doesnt need that kind of press to get noticed.
Merch guy got 20 of my dollars, I got a couple of CDs I'm looking forward to. People who leave random comments about how the band blows should leave a reason why-- I may agree with you on some of them.
But until then, these guys are good by me. Godspeed.

"it's not "easy", it's not "pop" but don't call them bad. What they are doing is insanely innovative and musically ambitious"
This statement is absolutely ridiculous. When you say something like this,i can only imagine your musical history goes back oh about 5 years? Give me a fucking break.

so it was the dude from Grizzly Bear being such a jackass at the end of the show? I wondered why Dirty Projectors didn't have an encore. The set was great but short. We were all left wanting more and that douche from Grizzly Bear woudn't shut up. He's lucky he was in the balcony, someone would have taught him a lesson otherwise.
Posted by ShootGrizzlyBears | December 5, 2007 1:35 AM
it's jackassy to shout admirations between songs?
