I listened to their tracks on their myspace. While I didn't care for the amateurish recording quality, I really like the quirky rock tunes.
Last night was completely different. The band sounded great. The simple three piece filled up the sonic spectrum nicely. But the songs were boring, they sounded generic, something like something Todd P would book (no offense). Little variety in tunes, very paint-by-numbers girl-playing-organ/guy-playing-guitar tracks. Too bad, their myspace stuff is good.

If the band is 3 members - why is Hamish Kilgour listed on their myspace page? Is he in the band?

Hamish Kilgour and Mark Ibold are not in the band.
Sad to see what Matador is signing nowadays.

Times New Viking are actually a band Matador would have definitely signed in the early 90's...
Now, Lavender Diamond well thats a different story......but I digress

TNV are great. They fit really well on Siltbreeze and now they are on Matador and they're the only band on Matador that actually sounds like they could've been on Matador when it was still a good label.
