Vietnam cancelled their only scheduled show - January 11th @ Mercury Lounge. Someone just told me they think it's because they're not a band anymore.

NOOOOO! I hope thats not true, that album turned into one of my favs, really did, at first I was not impressed but then I put it on a few more times and wow. Plus the Social Registry 12" series is not done yet, they still have to release one more, that is one awesome series, laid back and smooth.

I used to live with the drummer; ran into him on the street the other day and he said he had left the band. I know that a lot of people hate (hated?) Vietnam, but seeing them live was something else -- they really could fucking play; the interplay between the two guitarists was really incredible.

Now maybe Ivan can go back to doing Ghost Exits full time

They were really hit and miss as a band but they did have an undeniable chemistry when they performed live. Got turned on to them through NPR and saw them once when they performed at Summerstage last year. Had tickets to see them at the Mercury Lounge and figured something was up when they cancelled the gig and on their My Space page listed the bassist and drummers as ex-members.

I saw these dudes in Austin in the sunmer of 2008 at emo's. Had never heard of them, set started off amazing and I was feelin it, then midway theough the third or fourth song the drummer stormed off stage. They cycled through four or five drummers from the crowd to finish the show which sucked. Always wondered what happened because they initially blew me away, glad I found this thread, prolly saw the last few songs they played together.
