Drew Glackin, RIP

It is with the greatest sadness that we inform you of the passing of Drew Glackin. He was unaware of an overactive thyroid condition that led to severe heart damage. He was surrounded by family and friends during his final days and hours and we are all still in a state of shock and disbelief.More on Drew @ KnuckleheadNYC, and @ Lucid Culture.Drew was adored around the world and his larger than life spirit and contagious jovial energy touched everyone he met, everywhere he went. He was a musician of the highest talent and made his mark in countless bands, record albums, and many thousands of live performances. He will be sorely missed and the memories of his music, his great humor, and his magnanimous generosity of spirit and love will be with us forever.
A fund will be set up to help his family with expenses and we will keep you informed of memorial concerts and events as they develop.
We will all keep Drew in our hearts,
Konrad, Rod and Walter (The Silos).

One of the most wonderful guys I've met not to mention a great musician. So sad. The world already feels emptier.

I met Drew a few times, back when I was reviewing music. He showed up in the musical company of so many other fine artists--Tom Freund and Graham Parker being two who spring to mind.
But for some reason I have this memory--not even necessarily a real memory, maybe one cobbled together from wishes and half-remembered truths--of standing in the crowd with him at IOTA when someone else was on stage, both of us just enjoying the hell out of the music. He seemed like he'd be a great guy to hang out with.
I quit music reviewing because I was losing the joy in it. I saw people then--and I see people now--who stick with creative jobs that give them no joy. That's just insanity.
So that image I have of Drew is of him loving the music and the people, from either side of the bright lights. I believe Drew's passion for music ran deep, that it was never just a job to him.
God bless him for sharing that light he had with all of us, both on and offstage.

I aws at that IOTA show where the Silos opened for the Minus Five... and quite frankly blew them off the stage.
What a great performer.

I only met him once, but we spent a long night among mutual friends, passing a guitar around, laughing our heads off, drinking and talking music. But mostly playing music, dredging up every cheesy song and awesome forgotten classic we could coax out of our collective brains. He was an unforgettable guy, and even though our paths crossed just the once, the knowledge of his passing has filled me with sorrow. But I'm glad we had that one night. He gave me a memory I'll always treasure. Bless Drew Glackin.

Ahhhh, Drew.
One of the nicest guys in the business. had the pleasure of spending a summer with him while I was interning at Central Park SummerStage...no matter what, we always managed to have fun. never got to see him with The Silos, but I saw him w/ the jack grace band plenty of times. amazing lap steel/bassist/renaissance man.
i'll never forget the countless whiskey shots we consumed that summer, or the kindness he exuded to all around him. i considered him to be one of my true friends in a not-so-friendly industry.
Drew was a true class act, and will be missed by all. Rest Peacefully my man.
