Jack Penate (XL) - tonight & tomorrow in NYC, DUMBO video
Jack Penate @ Fontana's, NYC, CMJ 2007 (Leia Jospe)

Jack Penate is in town to play Mercury Lounge tonight (Jan 21) (sold out), and Union Pool tomorrow (first come, first served). The British singer-songwriter is signed to XL Recordings which makes him the labelmate of Radiohead and Vampire Weekend. Last time he was here was for CMJ.
Remember those DUMBO Session videos St. Vincent recorded? Well, Jack did some too, and you can watch the first one, below...

I kinda almost agree with 11:46 above. I saw Jack Penate at the Fontanas show - he was likeable, but not truly fantastic or anything. Here's the one picture I took:

at first i thought it said "paul mccartney" was the director of this horrible video and i didn't even question it because his modern suckiness almost matches the wreck that is this guy.
