Kimya is the new Feist - outside Sound Fix Records - Jan 15, 2007 (CRED)
Sound Fix records

In support of the Juno soundtrack, The Moldy Peaches will be performing “Anyone Else But You” on The View on Monday, January 21, at 11am on ABC. Please check local listings for time and channel identification, and of course, please tune in!
I'm not sure how I feel about that, and I don't mean because of the writers. It's just...The View?!? Kimya and Adam were supposed to do it on Conan, but pulled out when they realized there was still a strike.

In other news, Kimya scheduled another show @ Sound Fix....

This show is for all of the people outside on Tuesday night who couldn't get in and signed the list that was floating around. Anyone on the list must show up before 7pm. We'll open the doors to anyone not on the list at 7. It's first-come, first-served, so get there early...seriously.
The new show date is January 21st, and speaking of dates: Adam Green's new record "Sixes & Sevens" is out on Rough Trade on March 18th.

Such an embarrassment.

At Southpaw, she mentioned that a Manhattan date was being planned for this coming week. I hope this Sound Fix fiasco make-up didn't push that out.

I hope Matt Hickey made $5!

Look at all the sheep lining up.

When is Pitchfork going to update their site? I do not know what my new favorite band is supposed to be.

"When is Pitchfork going to update their site? I do not know what my new favorite band is supposed to be."

awwww. sounds like somebody got a bad review.

I just threw up in my mouth a little.

My mother saw Feist on the Today show and was singing "1,2,3,4" for weeks.
I'm not sure if she watches The View but if she tells me she likes Adam Green I might hurl completely.

They should do like Elvis Costello did on Saturday Night Live and play a different song without warning: "Who's Got the Crack?"

Posted by crackho | January 19, 2008 8:20 AM

Or "Downloading Porn With Davo". I'm sure Barbara Walters would like that one.

If sound fix keeps up with having lines like that, it's only a matter of time until the neighbor-nazis start trying to have them shut down.

i hope the performance ends up on youtube because i wouldn't watch the view if i was paid to. sort of related but not really, what's going on with paul baribeau these days? Grand Ledge was such a cute record.

i wonder if anyone finds this quite as ridiculous as i do? this has been what, over 7 years in the making? did these idiots even know any kimya/moldy peaches music pre-Juno? i bet they did but don't remember it cause they were too drunk at the strokes shows they went to. despite it making me throw up in my mouth a little, good for kimya. she's a good person.

They just went two steps down in my book and my book matters more than any of you losers' books.

Kimya Dawson played live on WNYC's Soundcheck program yesterday:

She talks a little about the band reuniting after having been dissolved too. Interesting interview.

For those of you who are bothered by this, just wait unitl they get nominated for an oscar and they perform on one of the most watched events of the year.

ROCK!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2008 1:54 AM

They wont perform on oscars. It will be Antonio Banderas performing their song as they watch on.

Wha wha wha, I knew about a band before somebody else and that means they have no right to like them. When music gets played on TV it automatically becomes bad.

Get over it dudes, there's bigger problems in the world.

Mostt of us knew about the Moldy Peaches "before somebody else". They sucked back then, and it is no different now.

Damn. Are people really consuming this crap. And has anyone heard how she justifies going on The View? She sucked bad years ago in her old band, why resurrect that crap now? That material is ancient and was terrible to begin with. At least we can all take comfort that anyone who "discovers" her through Juno will quickly back off when they hear ANY OTHER track that she has recorded. Phew.

Oscar? Who's talking Oscar? That same Moldy Peaches song was on the soundtrack to the film, Murderball, which was nominated for an Oscar for best documentary. If that song wasn't Oscar worthy then, why would it be now?

" If that song wasn't Oscar worthy then, why would it be now?"

don't be so naive

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2008 4:02 PM

Don't be so backward thinking.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2008 4:17 PM

for a song to be eligble for an oscar, it has to be written specifically for the film. so...not going to happen. Who cares if they're on the view...not "indie" enough for you? i just think it's nice that kimya and adam are seeing some fame and maybe this will allow them to sell more of their own records and pay the rent etc.

Posted by rose | January 20, 2008 5:30 PM

They both grew up in westchester county. They're not having trouble paying the rent, believe me.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2008 7:26 PM

'They both grew up in westchester county. They're not having trouble paying the rent, believe me.'

what is this nonsense? she is in her mid-thirties, do you think she still lives with her mom in westchester? or that her parents are supporting her financially? I'm not saying she's poor but serious, don't be so simple.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2008 10:36 PM

the view doesn't have writers so it is not affected by the strike. that is the difference.

Posted by kimya | January 21, 2008 12:16 AM

But fluff morning shows affect bands who perform on them. After the Dandy Warhols performed on Regis and Kelly the last time they were spotted was on the back of a milk carton.

Posted by Anonymous | January 21, 2008 11:27 AM

She's got a kid and is living on the west coast. I'm happy for her and hope she makes a couple of bucks. And I thought the Moldy Peaches were a great band. A giant fuck you to all the image conscious trend followers in the New York rock scene. Those shows were a breathe of fresh air and things have been pretty stale since.

Posted by Anonymous | January 21, 2008 11:30 AM

Adam Green on the other hand is obnoxious as fuck and I hope he dies penniless and alone.

Posted by Anonymous | January 21, 2008 11:31 AM

That guy's cool

Posted by Anonymous | January 21, 2008 11:40 AM

Sounds like a pretty cool guy

Posted by Anonymous | January 21, 2008 11:41 AM

I caught the beginning of The View this morning. They read an e-mail they received from Colin Powell, who was the other guest on the show, that said he thought it was cool that he was going to be on the same show as the Moldy Peaches.

Posted by Moldy Peaches = combat rock? | January 21, 2008 11:42 AM

It's not ok to perform on a show that the writers are on strike, but it is ok to appear on a show booked with COLIN POWELL? Fuck anyone who would appear on the same stage as Colin Powell.

Posted by Anonymous | January 21, 2008 2:58 PM

you, my friend, are a racist

Posted by Anonymous | January 21, 2008 3:21 PM

Colin Powell is warmonger

Posted by Anonymous | January 21, 2008 3:28 PM

Colin Powell is worse than that. He's a lying hypocrite whose false testimony before the UN gave this whole invade-Iraq campaign some legs. He should be tried for treason.

Posted by Anonymous | January 21, 2008 3:38 PM

wow- you're all idiots. kimya's great, the view's so bad it's fucking funny- and not everyone from westchester is rich. sorry that adam hurt you and colin powell is deeper than war and was one of the only few who tried for diplomacy in that administration- that's why they got rid of him - and well pobrasito- you are a hater. and as one of the great comedians said- if you don't have haters you ain't doin it right.

so rock on kimmee .... and let whoopi know we luv her!
