Largehearted Boy's Interesting CD Releases This Week

JunoOf this week's music releases, I can most highly recommend the soundtrack to the film, Juno. Between the theatrical release of the film and this album, I am thrilled that the music of Kimya Dawson will reach a wider audience.

Other recommended releases this week include several Bangles reissues (including the wonderfully poppy All Over the Place), Marah's Angels of Destruction!, and Sia's Some People Have Real Problems.

What new releases you picking up this week? What can you recommend?

Is that who the singer is? I saw the movie, and while I loved it, the music absolutely annoyed me. I kept on thinking "couldn't they find someone that can actually sing?" The songs were too juvenile .The actress that played Juno has a nice voice, judging from the last seen in the movie, why couldn't they have her sing the songs? Is Kimya Dawson some kind of new teen singer?

"new teen singer"

huh?

I thought Kimya's music was great in the movie, very fitting and charming. That said, I think it would be awful to sit through that music in person without the movie playing.

kimya's music was sooo effing annoying! it was the only thing i hated about the film.

hahaha! is kimya some new pop singer - the comments on this blog really crack me up sometimes.

Molly Neuman's current band should've covered "Molly Neuman" (at least the part that has lyrics) for that Queers tribute.

oh c'mon. Kimya's music is so good. she just gives it to ya. no tricks or cute nursery rhymes.

go see her at southpaw! 1/13

Is new york city really like a graveyard they all ask me
and i say well it was last week but man that was in the past
see i stopped going to the places where the people act so nasty
and pretentious 'cause i'm happy sitting with my friends in sidewalk singing songs

jokes? i get jokes.

I must admit, I had no idea who this Kimya person is, so I had to look it up online. I also thought she was some cutesy teenager singing silly songs, but I am shocked to find out she is 35 year old (and not so cute)! Does Kimya really have fans? People intentionally listen to this type of music? I still sounds like something a 14 year old writes. Poor songwriting and a terrible voice.

The songs did fit the movie, but I would never listen to it without the movie playing.

This movie just needs to go away. It's obnoxiously artificial in every aspect, to the point of being offensive. Go watch Ghost World.

Leave Kimya alone!

Posted by Anonymous | January 7, 2008 5:57 PM

yeah I was watching it and the whole time thinking ENOUGH MOLDY PEACHES

didn't even realize some of it was solo Kymya I guess her solo stuff sucks as much as when she was with adam in the moldy peaches. I was so happy we'd all moved past that crappy era of NYC music but I guess not?

regardless of kimya dawson and her future of victimization for this movie, can we build a big well to throw jelly nyc and europa into indefinitely?

love kimya she's so sweet, angelo spencer is pretty awesome too. i saw her in december and she's just ace. love her.and super down to earth. people shouldn't be mean about her, she's the best.

Posted by Mandy | January 7, 2008 9:15 PM

Ok why we throwing Europa and Jelly in a well?

I feel like Kimya has friends reading these posts. It's cute and all but loyalty is so 2007.
