Mission of Burma played MHOW, reissuing some records

Mission of Burma @ MHOW, Brooklyn, NY - Jan 19, 2008 (Bryan Buchman)
Mission of Burma

One year ago to the day, we last saw Mission of Burma in New York at Irving Plaza. Our recording of that show is available at archive.org (here). It became clear at that show that Mission of Burma was not just another 80’s legend reforming to capture past magic. This is a working band whose recent output is as compelling as its classic material. Last night, the newer material dominated the setlist and powered an ear-shattering blast of sonic post-punk by its virtual inventors. [NYCTAPER taped it]
Also, "Matador is pleased to reissue Mission Of Burma’s classic Ace Of Hearts recordings. Fully remastered from the original tapes by producer Rick Harte and Sterling Sound’s George Marino, said reissues include new 32 page booklets featuring interviews with Rick Harte and the band…along with the following bonus bits..."

it was a loud show like nyc taper said. After I saw two people trying to talk and one guy was saying he couldnt even hear himself talk. Luckily I had plugs in.

btw- I think I must have been standing near NYC taper, center sounboard, but I didnt see any mike stand, he must have been stealthy.

I'm sorry "one guy...couldn't even hear himself talk." There's nothing I like more than listening to idiots prattle on, yelling at each other, during a musical performance. Please may I hear more of your esteemed insight backed by Mission of Burma?

And when did "mike", as in mike stand, take the place of "mic". Even the NY Times let that one by. It's a freaking microphone.

MoB loud? Have you never seen them before? Why did you think they broke up in the '80s? Roger played so loud he developed tinnitus. The first reunion shows he played with headgear and his amp was behind soundproofing. Peter still plays behind soundproofing because of Roger.

The loudest concert I ever saw was Peter Prescott's post-Burma band, the amazing Volcano Suns. I would guess it was 84 or 85 at Irving Plaza. I'm not exaggerating when I say my ears were ringing for like 3 days.

mic stand, sorry. you're right. But pronounced "mike stand".

Loudest recent show I've seen was Tool at City Center 2 years ago, the soundboard guy said they measured it at 140 dB's.

I saw some really loud shows in the 80s (Motorhead at the Ritz comes to mind.) and I have some tinnitis/permanent hearing damage because of that. That's why now I wear plugs for prob 90 percent of shows I see.

oh shit I should clarify- I meant I heard them talking after the show. one said "can you hear all right" or something like that, and the other guy said "I cant even hear myself talk".
