Kimya Dawson as Colin Powell

The above is just an image. Video below....

WATCH THE VIDEO @ STEREOGUM.

1. It is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and I get to meet Whoopi Goldberg. This is extremely significant to me. If you only know her from Sister Act I beg you to go get a copy of her old Broadway show. And I beg you to watch The Color Purple. These are things that helped shape me and changed how I absorb things and how I deal with sadness. And how I smile. Please keep this in mind as you watch me blubbering and trying not to cry on The View today. I LOVE HER. Immensely.

2. For those of you calling me hypocrite- The View doesn't have writers so it is not affected by the strike. I looked into it. I wouldn't have crosed that line. Not even for Whoopi. Not even if DeVito was the other guest instead of *gasp* Colin Powell. [Kimya]

This post hijacked from Stereogum (obviously).

Kimya also played Sound Fix again last night.

Plugged by The View, snubbed by The Oscars.

Thank God she wasn't nominated for an Oscar. But it's too bad that Juno got a Best Picture & Best Screenplay nomination. Bleech.

they sucked at the Sidewalk cafe in 1999 and they suck now.

Posted by Anonymous | January 22, 2008 11:13 AM

That was great! They sounded swell and they were adorable and cool during that short-ass interview. It's neat that Kimya got to meet Whoopi. Nice : )

sick stage and stage production.

Posted by rB | January 22, 2008 11:51 AM

I'm glad you (or somebody) got a clip of that graphic flub. I laughed out loud, even with this infernal grip.

I loved 'em then and I still love them. They're not everybody's cup of tea, but I've never heard anyone pen lyrics like Kimya. I wish there was something going on in the scene as antithetical to the horrible over hyped crap of the late 00's as they were antithetical to the horrible over hyped crap of the late 90's. I'm so glad the majority of BrooklynVegan readers hate her.

You sucked at the sidewalk cafe... cock for rock in the men's room! Jerk! Stop being such a meany and go listen to your animal collective cds.

Posted by Anonymous | January 22, 2008 11:59 AM

why does she always talk about how she's going to cry?

Posted by jason | January 22, 2008 12:04 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 22, 2008 1:23 PM

no thanks, I've already revealed too much.

My opinion is the only one that matters and say Kimya is beyond reproach, so enough of the reproach, fart munchers

"her lyrics are so profound. she's our generations joni mitchell.

Posted by Anonymous | January 22, 2008 12:05 PM"

I am so sorry but this is one of the most laughably idiotic comments made on this blog

Here are some OMG TOTALLY RAD Kimya Lyrics

grape soda locked door
lost shoe satin star
pink ribbon cellophane
boxing match football game
kitchen floor reggie bar
monster mash corned beef hash
a-ha saxophone
5'3" dial tone
lips parched sousa march
flat foot no arch

Can you feel the genius? It practically jumps off the screen.

Don't wanna be a bum
You better chew gum
The pump don't work
'Cause the vandals
took the handles.
