My Morning Jacket playing Radio City, SXSW, new album

My Morning Jacket is playing Radio City Music Hall in NYC on Friday June 20th. They say, "An Evening With My Morning Jacket promises to be both a satisfying experience for the long-time fan and certainly a comprehensive introduction to the uninitiated." Tickets go on PRESALE on Friday.
MMJ's next studio album is scheduled to be released June 10th on ATO Records. And, they're playing at & around SXSW...
My Morning Jacket will be playing with Yo La Tengo at the Houston Verizon Wireless Theatre on March 10th, and at the Austin Music Hall on March 13th. Jim James will also be performing solo at Austin’s St. David’s Church on March 15th.The photos in this post were taken at Austin City Limits in Austin this past September. Some more below...

BV, I really wish you would email the pre sale info to me directly and not tell all the rest of these people until the day after. Haha. That musictoday site is horrible for busy presales. Its really primitive.

I couldn't get one. Is the site f'd up?
Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2008 9:44 AM
This music today site sucks every time I try to use it. The pre sales sell out in seconds. I was on right at 10 and they were gone. What a racket. I never seem to have problems with presales at other sites
Posted by Juan | January 18, 2008 9:44 AM
when do actual tickets go on sale?
Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2008 9:47 AM
what time on Friday for the regular sale?
Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2008 9:48 AM
Also, did you notice that the only ticket type was orchestra? That means the prime center mezz will be up for grabs during regular sale. this presale was the WORST.
Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2008 9:49 AM
jesus christ monkey balls! fucking music today bullshit cock asses. was logged right in then got an error message .. refreshed, went for 2 tix and was denied.
is public sale through the same site?
Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2008 9:49 AM
Is the regular sale definitely next Friday? I don't see it on Ticketmaster yet.
Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2008 9:50 AM
ROUGH!
Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2008 9:53 AM
I've had good and bad experiencs with this site. Got GA tickets for Muse and Bjork through them. I guess their error was not to offer them on their own site and the scalpers surely got them all.
Wouldn't worry, though, they generally release good seats on regular sale, which will be next friday.
It is not listed on TM yet but it will be there on the next days.

"its impressive that no one on BV got tickets, at all. there must have been very few up for grabs."
Ummmmm what? Who says no one got any. I got in right at 10 and got 2 Row GG.

I wrote to MMJ management (address on MMJ website) to suggest that they do their presales at another site next time (and I sent them the link to this blog so they could see that it wasn't just me..). A legitimate sell out is one thing but this was ridiculous. What did they do, include only 50 tickets in the presale? Not picking on the band - I love MMJ - but I do think they should know that this doesn't work. The idea of the presale us supposed to be a benefit for the biggest fans, not to piss them off.

why would 25 rows back be bad at radio city? some people are on crack! you're not gonna have any better lock in the public onsale either
Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2008 10:36 AM
Ok, this is why I love MMJ. Still a people's band. I heard back from their management already and here's what they said (I wrote back again and got their ok to post this). Still good tix to be had. Now I am a calm and understanding MMJ fan once again. haha.
" Our sincerest apologies for the difficulty you had in getting tickets during the pre-sale. Honestly, the truth is that the demand pretty much overloaded the system. The 500 tickets we were allow to allot for this process sold out in ten minutes. Where this is an encouraging sort of ‘good news’ thing, we’re as frustrated as you are right now.
FYI: Live Nation is in no way involved in this show. I’d read on the message board that people were blaming them, etc.
That said, the show is going on sale on January 25th and there will be over 5,000 tickets available. You will NOT have a problem buying them then and as we only sold every-other-row for the first 35 rows for this pre-sale, kick ass seats will be available.
One last note: As My Morning Jacket and management are sensitive to and appreciative for our fans/friends passion for the show we elected to sell ALL seats at the same price, $39.50 so as not to make life difficult for anyone who wants to come see the band...no matter where they live.
Lastly, you will NOT have a problem getting tickets to this show. Our mixed emotions of enthusiasm for the speed with which this pre-sale reacted coupled with our empathy for how some folks had difficulty buying tickets is palpable.
Thanks for reaching out and we look forward to seeing you at the show.
Kindest Regards,"

Gotta love MMJ. Still remember when they played small venues like Mercury or Bowery...
To whoever said that the 25th row is not that bad, I gotta tell you if you've ever been to RCMH the view varies depending on what section and row you are seated. Even on Orchestra 6 you can get a horrible view if you are too close to the stage.
I don't think they were bad seats on orch E, but for a presale is not worth my money.
If I get worse seats during regular sale, then it will be my bad and will still enjoy the show. If I get better seats I will wave back at you as I head down the hallway.
