Plug Awards

PLUG is proud to announce comedian/actor Patton Oswalt as our host this year. Show will include performances by nominees St. Vincent, Dizzee Rascal, José Gonzales and more, and a special headlining set from this year's PLUG Impact Award Honoree Nick Cave who will be taking the stage with the legendary Bad Seeds. The Awards will be March 6 @ NYC's Terminal 5, 8pm (EST).

Huge thanks to our friends at Dell Lounge for making what was originally a $25 ticket now just 10 bucks for all. So cool.

For those who won't be in town, we have amazing news this year - fans will be able to go to the Dell Lounge and watch the whole thing broadcast live as it happens March 6. More info soon!

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are coming out with a new album, and so is Dizzee Rascal. Dizzee details below....

Press release:

DIZZEE RASCAL ALBUM MATHS+ENGLISH TO BE RELEASED IN STORES AND ON-LINE THROUGH DEFINITIVE JUX THIS SPRING!

THE NEW ALBUM - MATHS + ENGLISH HITS THE US WITH A PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL RELEASE CONTAINING NEW MATERIAL INCLUDING TWO NEW STUDIO TRACKS AN AN EL-P REMIX OF "WHERE DA G'S"

Previously only available to US residents online digitally, the CD and digital formats of this 2007 Mercury Music Prize nominated album will be swimming stateside with added tracks and other bonus materials this April 29th on hip hop stalwart Definitive Jux Records.

UK rap Superstar Dizzee Rascal changes up his signature style on his new album MATHS + ENGLISH. The UK grime rapper gets help from fellow Brits Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner & Lily Allen as well as US gangsta heads of state UGK and takes notes from other kinds of music, like crunk, drum and bass, classic old school rap and of course the genre he practically invented singlehandedly - grime.

Winner of the coveted UK Mercury Music Prize in 2003 for his debut album, 'Boy In Da Corner', Dizzee Rascal has emerged as one of the most successful and important rappers to ever take flight from the UK. On this, his third album, he demonstrates his mastery of craft, staying true to his hardcore vision while continuing to expand artistically and introduce wider audiences to his unique viewpoint.
And despite all the accolades, the US market is still ripe with anticipation and promise for one of the world's premier hip hop artists.

plug awards? seriously? last year's show was so f'n terrible. they really should just let cave play and have the winners posted in the lobby

Posted by Anonymous | January 31, 2008 4:13 PM

does anyone have any idea how to get tickets for this show? PLUG's site tells you tix are available on the "events page," but there is no ticket info there. Neither Ticketmaster or Terminal 5 lists it on their calander. Any thoughts?? Mr. Cave has not graced the states in quite some time, and i really do not want to miss the opportunity, awards show or not.

"plug awards? seriously? last year's show was so f'n terrible. they really should just let cave play and have the winners posted in the lobby"

but no one wants to give the people what they want, that'd make everyone happy. no wants happy people.
