Rififi closing at the end of February

Bobby Tisdale, Invite Them Up @ Rififi, NYC - Oct 3, 2007 (CRED)
Invite Them Up

Numerous comedians are reporting (supposedly not as jokes) that unless someone swoops in and buys it or something, NYC club Rififi will be (despite their plans to continue) closing at the end of February. The last Invite Them Up will be held at Rififi on February 27th. Trash, "I Like Attention", "Totally J/K with Joe and Noah", "At Night with Gabe and Jenny", Starshine Burlesque, Sweet and Nasty Burlesque and The Greg Johnson show will also be without a home.

This comes just a few months after Mo Pitkins closed - another East Village home to regular comedy and burlesque shows.

this is a bummer, but still: woe be to the man or woman who buys that place. their first order of business will be to exorcise the stench of toilet from every inch of the property.

the people who run (ran) rififi were disinterested fuckers, so no great heartbreak

It's not that there were disinterested, it was just managed very poorly from the top.

The staff was always great.

Sad that comedy is moving to Brooklyn now.
