Dude RELAX. you dont have to bug and overpay for a ticket. There will be more tickets put on sale the day of or the day before the show. This happens with all Bowery shows. Plus the week of the show there will be tons on craigslist for face. Calm down, the show is 2 months away.

Music Hall Of Williamsburg sold out.

9 times out of 10 I would agree with the above comment about tickets being re-released and extras at close to face day of show but I think Stephen Malkmus is a little bit better than your average band. Yes, before I am crucified, I am aware this is not Pavement, but Malkmus could have easily played larger rooms in New York (note that last time he played a gig with Jicks in New York it was at Irving). I am sure he would have had no issue selling out Terminal 5 but took the good route and favored the intimate venue. All I can say is I don't forsee people dumping these tickets but perhaps the addiition of a show or two.

Good luck!

It has nothing to do with that. Bowery always holds back a number of tickets to release day of or day before plus guest list who dont pick up. Believe me, there will be a number of tickets released then as well as many on craigslist going for face. Much bigger and more "desired" shows at Bowery had the same thing happen

Since MHOW, (TVPKAN6), is owned by Bowery Presents, do they have a similar policy? I'm kind of surprised these shows "sold out" so fast.

I guess like any market place goes, will see how the supply and demand works itself out:

http://newyork.craigslist.org/search/tix?query=Malkmus&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max

Obviously the shipping of tickets has not yet happened but the demand is there.

If you have the money and you want to be there I think people will pay "to be safe". If your an average person who is 50/50 on the show, I guess in that case you can roll the dice and hope your one of the lucky who finds out about the re-release of tickets.

Why is this shocking news to people? He sold maxwells out last February in under 5 minutes. Yes Maxwell's is small but the Bowery Ballroom is one of the best venues to see an artist in an intimate place in New York City.

Yes MHOW is the same policy
and these people advertising on Craigslist are idiots. And that is fine if the idiots want to "pay to be safe" as you say. If they want to throw their money away instead of being patient and waiting to get the tickets for face that is fine. Who cares. The smart ones(it has nothing to do with luck) will wait till they release more tickets as they always do the day of or day before or get them on Craigslist that week when they will be going for face.

Maxwell's is absolutely tiny. The ticket sales never make sense for Malkmus. He'll play a gig downstairs in the Knitting Factory where it's just him and a guitar singing Pavement songs with the crowd, and it'll cost $5 and won't sell out. Same thing with the Plug awards, which took months to sell out. Then he books 2 nights at Bowery/MHOW and it sells out in a day, months before the show? It is surprising. Good for SM, though. He needs to get that college fund in check for his little one. I'm sure the new record will be a rollicking rollercoaster of fun too, can't wait to hear it.
