Tegan & Sara - more 2008 Tour Dates, presale

Tegan & Sara keep going and going and going (it's a good thing). Tickets go on pre-sale tomorrow for April and May shows that include May 12th at Terminal 5 in NYC. I don't want to go into the bigger venue rant here, but I really don't think they should be playing a venue that large - they'll feel so far away. Actually i do not think they will even come close to selling that place out. And it is ok BV you can go on the bigger venue rant. It is ok. You know it is ridiculous and out of hand. It gets even more laughable with each band that is playing there.

Cool pic with the guys from Metallica....that's from Bridge School this year.

Someone's gotta tell those girls that Bogart's in Cincinnati is not exactly in the area of town that two Canadian lesbians would want to be walking around after dark.

oh god the webster hall show was so terrible terrible. not the band but the crowd. i have been seeing them play for five years now and i don't know if i can bare to deal with those people again, which i'm sure terminal 5 is going to be full of.

No Switzerland date????

terminal 5 fucking sucks
daft punk is playing tonight at 11 pm behind terminal 5. I got front row tickets. I hear they are covering "nookie" by limp bizkit. Marcy's playground is opening!

Unfortunately no one will be able to see them at terminal 5, because it is the most poorly designed venue in NYC, where you spend the entire show trying to find a spot that you can SEE in, which is pretty close to impossible. I wish someone would tell Tegan and Sara to play Hammerstein or Roseland if they have to play a venue that large.

they shouldnt play Hammerstein or Roseland either. Webster Hall is big enough. Multiple nights. Or Bowery.

Can someone explain to me how it is that you can't see the stage in Terminal 5? I've never been there but I don't understand how it's possible.
Posted by Anonymous | January 15, 2008 7:40 PM
Not sure why anyone would want to pay to see those girls play. I'd rather watch Kirk Hammett tune his guitar.
Posted by Anonymous | January 15, 2008 8:16 PM
tegan and sara are lesbian?! shit, that sucks...
Posted by Anonymous | January 15, 2008 8:42 PM
the only way you can't see the stage at Terminal 5 is if you get to the show late and don't claim a good spot. Same as any venue...

^^^^ You(anon 8:48pm) are a knucklehead.

I saw Tegan & Sara at the Narrows Festival a couple of years back at the S.I. Yankees stadium in Staten Island. They came across extremely well considering it was a very large outdoor venue. I was very impressed.

What time does Daft Punk pose with Tegan & Sara?
Posted by Anonymous | January 16, 2008 8:43 AM
the first couple times a saw the Daft Punk comments, I admit, I chuckled. However, now it has gotten really pathetic. I'm actually slightly concerned about the person who is responsible for this. Are you ok? You must have something wrong with you. Your comments are so far from funny now.

They'd be much better served doing multiple nights at smaller venues. I didn't make it to Webster Hall, but that venue is large enough. I don't see how they'll translate well to the cesspool of sound that is Terminal 5.
Posted by Anonymous | January 16, 2008 10:30 AM
And woah, tickets are $42.50!

Hey, maybe if you guys KEEP bitching about Terminal 5 in EVERY FUCKING THREAD they'll close it down--and every other mid-to smallish-large venue in the city--open up a few tiny clubs that no one can ever get tickets to, and you'll all be happy... until you bitch about never be able to get tickets for anything.
So, please--let's just rename BrooklynVegan.com as "Terminal5sucks.com", ok?

Interminable 5 is more like it. Keep bitching about it but couple that with not buying tickets to the place. Who cares about being able to get tickets to something if it sucks when you go to the venue.

11:05 --
It's not a mid to smallish venue. It's 3,000. That's Roseland size. That's double Webster Hall size. And if you've been there, you'd know that it was put together quite poorly. Take a large vacant warehouse on the west side, plop down a stage and a few speakers, throw some temporary walls down for bathrooms, and add no fewer than three bars, and you've got a venue.
Music was clearly the last thing on the minds of those that constructed the place. Rather, it exists as a large enough place to pack in enough people with an absolute need to see an act, rathern than appreciate the music.

^ That "vacant warehouse" used to be Club Exit for years.

they're lesbians AND twin sisters.
they don't fuck each other!

wow, I'm amazed. the jet setting businessmen who own and run Bowery and Terminal 5 have the time to (and are sensitive enough to) get worked up about & respond to people shit talking their venue on message boards.
it's pretty hilarious to watch them go at it. They use the same justifications that the underground spaces use. "If you make us go out of business then you're hurting the scene and letting the bigger, badder guys win." (see anonymous 11:02 / 11:05)
wah wah wah, you guys are charging $50 for tickets to flavor of the month indie pop shows. You hire poorly trained goons to do security. You have weak sitelines. You take the majority of the ticketg price for your own "expenses" and pay the musicians an ridiculous fraction. You deserve no sympathy, you are just as bad as the Clear Channel spaces you're competing with.
It's also disingenuous. Anyone who knows the game knows that you're just building up Terminal 5 and Music Hall of Wburg inorder to get Clear Channel to buy you out next year. Then you'll take your payout and all that idealistic sympathy you're trying to invoke will go out the window.

"Anyone who knows the game knows that you're just building up Terminal 5 and Music Hall of Wburg inorder to get Clear Channel to buy you out next year. "
Anyone who knows the game would also know that Clear Channel doesn't book concerts anymore. Live Nation does.
Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2008 3:05 AM
Live Nation is barely a spin off from Clear Channel. They are one in the same.
Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2008 3:10 AM
"Live Nation is barely a spin off from Clear Channel. They are one in the same"
maybe, but by the way you say it, I can tell that clearly you do not know the game.

oh? you certainly draw a lot of conclusions from no information at all.
also, you trying to change the subject won't obscure the fact that Bowery Presents is only motivated by the big buyout payout down the road, and doesn't actually give a damn about providing a better, independent alternative for the New York music scene.
Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2008 3:31 AM
I don't hear any artists complaining
Posted by Anonymous | April 14, 2008 10:00 AM
That's funny, artists complain about Bowery Presents all the time!
