Pitchfork should stop praising overhyped artists like Vampire Weekend, and give BSP some more fucking credit.

i am really excited for stp to reunite.
does anyone here on this board feel strongly otherwise? please don't hesitate to voice your opinion!

I agree with 3.46. The new BSP is really quite good, and rates well above any flavor-of-the-month "best new music"

Completely agree about how good British Sea Power's latest is as well. A U.2? How far up your own ass are you Pitchfork? Dudes try to make anthemic songs and you penalize them for achieving that? Dumb.

Kinda getting sick of all these bands reuniting. It'd be cool it they would move on to something new and interesting instead of just staying in the past. Like the new Smashing Pumpkins though.

So why didn't pitchfork rate Neon Bible an "Eddie and the Cruisers." What's wrong with being compared to one of the greatest bands of the last twenty years anyway . . . .

^^^U2 sux dude.
Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 4:47 PM
u.2? pitchfork media has lost all credibility although i wont argue that the british sea chowder sucks

Scott Weiland...rehab again? Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn.
Kinda wish he'd just stop being such a pussy and either kick his habbit or croak already. So tired of celebrities and their multiple stints in rehab....

Stone Temple Pilots = last 'classic rock' band (and frankly, quite great songwriters regardless of 'grunge production value').
Posted by greg | February 12, 2008 5:01 PM
You're alright greg.

So I guess people on here love STP but think U2 sucks. That's interesting . . . .
Posted by E | February 12, 2008 5:16 PM
I agree with you, Anon 5:01. Let's hope Kanye would be right behind him!

I was at that MGMT/Yeasayer show that article wrote about... honestly i totally agree...mgmt was good but yeasayer who i head never listened to blew my mind. it was like watching aphex twin but live combined with 70s rock harmonies and like joy division vocals. it was awesome.

So bonnaroo books metallica and this shitty fest in columbus gets the stp reunion? wtf?
Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 5:32 PM
Anon 5:24pm whatever it is that you were smoking or shooting up at that show please give me some.
Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 5:33 PM
Who cares about an STP reunion anyway? They were never any good to begin with. It was all downhill after their first single.

Y'all need to stop dickriding British Sea Power just because Pitchfork hated on them. They write big stupid rock songs, just like every other big stupid rock band these days.
Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 6:04 PM
Come on rocked the shit, Purple is a pretty solid album.

Hey, look! A rapper a) in trouble with the law and b) accused of randomly pulling out a fire arm (at a pick-up football game? Really?)! Will wonders never cease?

stone temple pilots, they are elegant bachelors
Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 6:34 PM
Anon 6:34 You said "pulling out". Tee hee hee...

Anon 6:34 They're foxy to me, are they foxy to you?
Posted by chris | February 12, 2008 7:40 PM
@ Anon 6:04
If there's any dick riding that needs to cease it's with RadioHead
let's just hope dick riding is not the new ghost riding
Posted by dick rider | February 12, 2008 7:41 PM
dick ride tha whip...

STP?That dated cock rock garbage returns.
Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 8:14 PM
Greg, your comment about STP being the last classic rock band was a pretty funny.Even Hurl Jam was better.Scott Stapp Weiland wrote some great lyrics though.
I actually brought the Purple cd for 50 cents at a thrift shop and enjoyed the secondhand angst
that = nothing.

Cat Power an "adult-contemporary chanteuse"?Chanteuse is too big a word for me.Glad that her shows are now attracting an "unusually high proportion of baby boomers".People-do not fear the babyboomers.

"What's wrong with being compared to one of the greatest bands of the last twenty years anyway"
The reviewer made the comparison with '00s U2, not '80s U2. (I will admit to liking the first four tracks of "All That You Can't Leave Behind," though.)

i wish they had given the recent killers record a rating of "meatloaf"
Posted by meatloaf | February 13, 2008 3:49 AM
I say BSP is worth the hype! I happen to love their new CD! And yes, i love rock music!

Although I will say U2's later stuff hasn't been comparable to Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby, they are still a great band. Pitchfork needs to get a grip. And anon 9:31 should also listen to the rest of that album and "How to Dismantle" as well. Still pretty good.

I'm sure we can all agree that it is safe to say that nobody reading this blog or writing for pitchfork would recognize good rock music if it shat in their gaping maw. And frankly, I am beside myself with rage and frustration with the makers of Mr. Men for introducing a new racist stereotype into the cultural lexicon while the emotional wounds inflicted by Pepe Le Peu are still to heal. Goddammit. Godfuckingdammit.
