Idioteque!!!
Posted by Jonny Greenwood is the man | February 27, 2008 2:58 AM
fuck the 3 day pass. not worth it. Sunday lineup is shit. Fri and Sat is where its at.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 3:00 AM
help: why would i presale this? tickets are all GA, right? and is there a possibility i wouldn't be able to get a pass if i buy ticketmaster on friday? i mean, are they expecting to sell out 30, 40, 50,000 passes??? i don't get the reason for the presale... help!
Posted by fanny | February 27, 2008 3:43 AM
Somehow Jack Johnson's name next to Radiohead kinda hurts the notoriety of this festival.
Posted by Jimbo | February 27, 2008 6:51 AM
look at all that jersey swamp land in the pic...so distorted
can't wait to frolic in the swamp
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 7:03 AM
Ha, everyone who is even going to this thing is only going to see Radiohead and they don't need a three day pass. The only need for a presale is for Friday and Saturday one day passes.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 7:16 AM
what's the advantage of buying during the presale?
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 7:33 AM
anyone who wants my code is welcome to it...
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 7:57 AM
anyone know what the capacity is? (ie: how many tix will be sold for each day)
Posted by rocked the shit | February 27, 2008 7:58 AM
The ticketmaster site only refers to presale for the three day passes...not sure single day tix will be available for the presale (not that I know the presale code anyway). Anyway, odd they couldn't book more of the well known acts. I guess they assume that Radiohead will fill the place regardless of who else is there...

if scalpers think they will make a killing they can go fuck themselves. This is sick.
The people who run Coachella are a bunch of right winger nuts, just search the NY Times archive on last years festival, Jeff Leeds wrote a big article about that.
Any news if Radiohead will play Lollapalooza, btw?
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 8:34 AM
How do we get the password? I am already signed up for APW e-mails.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 8:41 AM
if you signed up before last night for the e-mails, then you should have gotten the e-mail with a password around 11 last night. check spam folder i guess? i have a strange feeling theyre not going to sell very many 3 day passes to this.

saturday is the day --
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 8:51 AM
well, none of the days seem worth it to see....all good bands but not so good line up i guess, but hey at least we know some of these bands will probably have shows in new york, seeing as were so close.
Posted by anon | February 27, 2008 8:58 AM
this is going to be like the Arcade Fire/Randalls Island show where everyone buys up tickets to make a few bucks and gets stuck w/ them. Im only paying $50. Wow! only 30 bucks a day to park..get me the presale now
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 8:59 AM
"The people who run Coachella are a bunch of right winger nuts, just search the NY Times archive on last years festival, Jeff Leeds wrote a big article about that."
You obviously cannot read. Honestly, go read that article again and point out to me where it describes Goldenvoice as "right winger nuts". It said the guy that owns the polo grounds gives modestly to the Republican party. Nothing about Goldenvoice. And nothing to even describe the landowner as a "right winger nut". And this coming from one of the most liberally biased newspapers in the country...

anon 8:58am
depending on the contract they have with the festival they may not be able to play within a certain mile radius of NJ for a couple of days to prevent overlap.
Posted by jason | February 27, 2008 9:13 AM
Sunday is not all that bad, considering that amadou and mariam and youssou freaking n'dour are playing somewhat rare shows, but i wish i could take those two artists and have them play summerstage that day.

3 day pass, wow what a steal !

it's only $5 dollars it says!!!

Goldenvoice is owned by AEG Live(Anschutz Entertainment Group) which is owned by Philip Anschutz, who is a right wing nut.
Coachella grounds owner, yeah a moderate republican, right. Is there such a thing?

Yes, there is
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 9:38 AM

you cant get the password unless you signed up for their e-mail list before last night. they sent out 'unique codes' last night to those who signed up. guess youre out of luck unless you got an e-mail..

"Coachella grounds owner, yeah a moderate republican, right. Is there such a thing?"
What a dumb and ignorant comment.

There are moderate democrats too. Do you think every democrat is a hippie and every republican is a facist? Idiot!
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 9:43 AM
The presale is just for 3 day passes. Really not worth it. I might by a ticket to Saturday.
Posted by E | February 27, 2008 9:43 AM
while i agree the third day is not that sweet. I do admit a presale for the first two days is good thing because those first two days will sell out. Radiohead sold out the field day single tickets (before it got more) in hours and their MSG 2003 shows also sold out in only a matter of hours.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 9:44 AM
what sucks for me is that two of the few bands i really want to see, Amadou & Mariam & Youssou N'Dour are playing Sunday when there is no one else I really care about.

last time I checked every republican in congress votes as a block with his party, so yes I would question whether there is such a thing as a "moderate" republican. Basically more like "extreme right wing nut jobs" and right wingers who fall in line.
Also, glad to see AEG is monitoring this thread.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 9:53 AM
anon 9:44 what are you talking about? Radiohead at field day had maybe 15,000 people there. It was deserted! Where you at the same show as me which was at Giants Stadium???

Why is it called "All Points West" when it's on the East Coast????
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 10:03 AM
'Why is it called "All Points West" when it's on the East Coast????'
"The festival's name is inspired by the area's rich history, particularly Ellis Island and the NJ Central Railroad terminal located on the festival site, where many arriving immigrants boarded trains for ALL POINTS WEST."

If JElly NYC ran it, it would be RSVP, show up around 11:30 but not before, cause the neighbors complain. If yoyu show up at 11:35 it's already too late. Getting timing right gets tricky like that.

hum did you guys see no single day car pool tickets for friday. So if you want that friday car pool ticket, you have to buy three day pass. Sounds like arm twisting to me.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 10:39 AM
yes i am bummed too that both african bands are on sunday. i refuse to go the day jack johnson is playing.

I have a question, if you buy a three day ticket, will you be issued 3 tickets, one to each day or just one ticket and they give you a bracelet or what? how will this 3 day ticket work.
basically, will we be able to ditch the sunday ticket?
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 10:51 AM
boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Posted by diggins | February 27, 2008 10:54 AM
Arm-twisting is GV/AEG's way of business. Coachella 3-day passes tend to be 3 single-day tickets so APW will likely follow the same format.
"i have a strange feeling theyre not going to sell very many 3 day passes"
GV/AEG has a way of going around this. Like Coachella, I predict they will sell a LIMITED NUMBER of single-day passes. When those run out, you'll have to either purchase the 3-day pass (and trash or sell the Sunday ticket, if you can; there'll be a bunch already for sale on craigslist I'm sure) or buy through a scalper. Judging from the hoopla of last year's RATM demand, buying the 3-day pass MAY likely be cheaper than or similar to buying a single Friday and Saturday ticket thru a scalper. Thus, that is how GV/AEG will get their 3-days to sell.
"$30 a day for parking. if you go here: http://www.getnj.com/lsp/lspferry.shtml it's only $5 dollars it says!!!"
They'll likely hike up the price for the festival. GV/AEG events tend to have that effect on paid parking within the event's area.

"anon 9:44 what are you talking about? Radiohead at field day had maybe 15,000 people there. It was deserted! Where you at the same show as me which was at Giants Stadium???"
I was and I am talking about before it was moved. When it was a two day festival in long island, the single day radiohead tickets sold out in a matter of hours. But then the festival got fucked and it was moved to giant stadium last minute. And yeah at that point, it was a total mess. But before that, they had sold out there day.
Even before that in 2001, they sold out two days at Liberty Park all by themselves.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 11:06 AM
yeah as soon as it sells out, watch the prices double. scalpers will prob want 200 per fri and sat.
Let's just hope it doesn't sell out right away.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 11:12 AM
in 2006 MSG theater it sold out within seconds of going on sale, by the time my cue came up it was sold out. Thats what, 10 thousand tickets in minutes?

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 11:33 AM
good lineup for the lollipop fest, though still opting for all points west as my roots are in union city nj
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 11:35 AM
"that Lollapalooza line up is soooooo FAKE!"
That's what they said last year, and it turned out to be true. Same for Coachella.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 11:35 AM
well... that poster is a total fake. (like... they misspelled pipettes!)
also... I really doubt arcade fire is touring in the states this year.
if the lineup ends up being true, however... I'd love to be there! easily the best lineup of the festivals (but it's a total fake).
Posted by rocked the shit | February 27, 2008 11:38 AM

Just wait until Lolla and ACL lineups are announced...it'll make APW look SOOOOO much worse than it already is!
We want Vineland back!
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 11:48 AM
now u want vineland back? hahaha! that's funny considering everybody knocked it when it was coming...
...bunch of little kids write on this site...never happy.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 11:52 AM
White Stripes cancelled ACL least year and all 3 days were still incredible because the lineup was so deep with quality from morning until night EVERY DAY! Take Radiohead out of the APW equation and your left with NOTHING! Seriously, without Radiohead this thing would NEVER even come close to selling out.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 11:52 AM
Vineland was going to be put on by the folks who do ACL, Reading and Leeds. No doubt that lineup would've killed APW.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 11:53 AM
Seriously, White Stripes cancelled and we still had Arcade Fire and Muse that night. APW is such a disgusting joke!!!
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 11:55 AM
i wonder what the larger(i.e. animal collective)/headliner(i.e. radiohead) bands charge for an appearance at these festivals...anybody have any idea?
i really have no basis, but im guessing at least $20k??
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 12:03 PM
THIS IS THE CRAPPIEST LINEUP FOR A FESTIVAL I HAVE EVER SEEN
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 12:12 PM
How is the ferry service the fastest and easiest?
I took the ferry to and from the Arcade Fire / LCD Soundsystem show and it could have been run more efficiently by a circus chimp.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 12:17 PM
That statement would be an insult to chimps, sir.

Jack Johnson is there, automatic 5 star rating!
(The fratboys who moshed to Radiohead rejoice)
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 12:40 PM
Maxim on J. Johnson: " After spending a large swath of his life surfing the most beautiful beaches in the world, it’s understandable that Jack Johnson would be a pretty mellow dude. We don’t begrudge him his contentedness—OK, maybe a little—but we don’t really need to hear about it, either. His latest album of campfire folk songs leaves us drowning in fucking pleasantness. Johnson strums his acoustic guitar like he’s hoping not to wake the guy lounging in the next bungalow over, cooing surfer-boy chestnuts (“After all, we’re just a bubble in a boiling pot/Just one breath in a chain of thought”) and inoffensive come-ons (“Maybe we could sleep in/I’ll make you banana pancakes”) in his supremely laid-back, it’s-all-cool-brah voice. There are welcome signs of relationship distress on tunes like “No Other Way” and “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing,” but every song lopes along at the same passive pace, lulling listeners into a sun-stroked stupor" 2 stars out of 5
So 12:40 dude, YOU ARE WRONG, Maxim sez Jack Johnson sux!
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 12:45 PM
thank you for defending Maxim......
Jack Johnson is there, automatic 2 star rating!
(The fratboys who moshed to Radiohead riot)
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 12:57 PM
The fratboys who moshed to Radiohead weep, then riot, then listen to the introspective mellowness of Jack Johnson and cool down.
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 12:59 PM
It bears repeating: the lineup sucks.
Take away Radiohead and you basically have the free Siren fest.

Of course the presale sold out. $270 for 2 Radiohead concerts is still a deal. Maybe you can sell the Sunday ticket for $20 on Craigslist in order to make back some money.

my question is: where the fuck is the local representation??? the only band here that has close to anything to do with ny/nj is animal collective, and only one of them even lives here anymore. I can name many many bands who are from this area who could be playing this thing.
where is the nj/ny love? discus...

Secret Machines started in Texas but don't they live in Brooklyn?
Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 6:31 PM
This concert is full of complete fail and aids.
I'm not paying $250 to see a bands that i've already seen.
The fail increases when you know you can't drive or even park there.
Also you can't camp either.
Posted by Leon Westbrook | February 27, 2008 10:29 PM
maybe local bands didnt want to lose indie cred by getting in bed with AEG?
I would rather go see Todd P and/or Jelly NYC shows for 5 bucks or free. Think about it for that money, you could go to every single Todd P show all year, plus prob get drunk to boot, and have tons of more fun locally.
Plus just cross your fingers, 88 Drummers on 8/8/08, please please make it happen.
