75 bucks? Terminal 5? No thanks. I'd like to see the Beastie Boys, but honestly I'd rather see them at MSG or something.
Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2008 9:45 PM
Are these tix tax deductible?
Posted by Jp | February 5, 2008 9:54 PM
Anyone know the presale passcode?
Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2008 10:09 PM
Having seen them this summer at summerstage and hammerstein is making this show a no nothing yawn event. Not gonna do it.
Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2008 10:58 PM
does anyone have the presale password tomorrow?
thanks
Posted by John | February 5, 2008 11:00 PM
One day, they'll finally go away. Unfortunately, that day has not yet arrived.
Posted by Yeastie Girls | February 5, 2008 11:01 PM
I swear to God, enough with the "Terminal 5 SUCKS!" bullshit. The point has been made: cool kids don't like the fucking venue. Enough.
Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2008 11:07 PM
no but really, crap venue or not... anyone have the presale password?

or you can just leave your "meh, weak lineup" comment here.

Here I am going to say it. I like Terminal 5. I have been to dozens of NYC venues and it really isn't so bad. The site lines on the floor are decent. Sound wasn't bad either. I give it a 8 out of 10.
Posted by Craig | February 6, 2008 8:19 AM
Craig,
Here I am going to say it. You either work for or are close to people at Bowery Presents or you are blind and deaf.
Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2008 8:38 AM
I'm going to say it anonymous. You are either a stuck up indie kid or have only been to two venues Roseland and Terminal 5. I used to work in the concert industry 1998-2001 and have seen my fair share of venues. Why didn't you like terminal 5...oh maybe you got there to late and were stuck in the back by the bar. Wahwah...
Posted by Craig | February 6, 2008 8:53 AM
all of the concert venues that i have been to are cooler than the venues you have been to.
Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2008 9:19 AM
Even if I have been to some of the venues that you have been to, Anon. 9:19 AM?
Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2008 9:28 AM
all of the concert venues that i have been to are cooler than the venues you have been to (except for any that overlap...in which case we were both cool...but only for that night).
Posted by anon 9:19a | February 6, 2008 9:33 AM
Dear Craig, I'm not a "stuck-up indie kid." I'm 42 and have been to and/or played at pretty much every music venue this city has seen since I was 18. Terminal 5 sucks. You sound like your fucking paycheck depends on T5's success.
Posted by Mid Fingg | February 6, 2008 9:34 AM
to anon 9:19 - you just posted on a blog comments section, which automatically makes you not cool.

Presale Code? - Anyone
Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2008 9:41 AM
all of the blog sites that i read and post on are cooler than the sites you read and post on.

I hear ya....hunting for the pre-sale code too! No luck yet, though.
Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2008 10:08 AM
What time is Daft Punk announcing the pre-sale code, and then commenting on how shitty Terminal 5 is by performing their new single w/ Kanye West, "Bigger, Shittier, Douchier Venue"?
Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2008 10:17 AM
what time is Daft Punk announcing the pre-sale code, commenting on how shitty Terminal 5 is and lamenting the days of playing great NYC venues before they were all closed down by the corporations and rising rents and before they were filled with hipsters?
Posted by anon 9:19a | February 6, 2008 10:34 AM
bababooie! bababooie!
Posted by ROCK STARchitect | February 6, 2008 11:11 AM
Mid Fingg...I have nothing to gain by liking Terminal 5. I am just tired of people whinning about Terminal 5. Having lived in Central PA for 4 years I know what a treat it is to have bands you like come to your town. Even if the venue is less than desireable. Just go to the show and enjoy the band a quit whinning. Terminal 5 is bring good bands and it is a way better venue than Roseland which is a comparable size. To me that makes Terminal 5 good. Not every venue will be like Bowery Ballroom. Terminal 5 is not even in my top 10 favorite NY venues but if a good band is coming I am going. If you don't like the site lines get there earlier. If you don't like the sound stand near the soundboard.
Posted by Craig | February 6, 2008 11:11 AM
Oh man, tickets are actually $100... that is if we had a presale pw... very much reconsidering....
Posted by Stephen | February 6, 2008 11:59 AM
a password is needed and it is $100.

Wow you are pretty immature...and lame. Stay home.
Not one person on this discuss has given a reason why Terminal 5 sucks. Just saying it sucks proves nothing.
Have a nice day.

Terminal 5 is aight. There is some room for improvement but I'll take it.
Craig there a lot of jerks on this board just move on.
Posted by John | February 6, 2008 12:52 PM
I enjoyed Terminal 5. Easy to get a drink. Sound was good when I was there for a show awhile back. I am going to go back soon! Lots of spoiled folks on this board!

I went to Terminal 5 and it is groovy! Hope New Kids On The Block play a reunion show there!

whats next, everybody providing lists of the shows they attended last year and the types/amounts of drugs/booze imbibed at said shows?
oh, and by the way, my dad could kick your dad's ass

I love Terminal 5 so much that I gave it my virginity!

Here's the deal...if you don't like seeing Beastie Boys at an intimate venue and paying $100 a ticket (for a good cause mind you), then please stay at home and finger-f$ck yourself with your iPod.
Posted by DooDoo in my Trousers | February 6, 2008 3:15 PM
well put doodoo. you people love to hate. whats wrong with T5? if you have to watch the show from the floor, than thats your fault for being a minion without VIP access.
Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2008 3:31 PM
are the people that complain about T5 the same people who buy tix to roseland shows for years?
in no other country someone would pay to see a show at roseland, a joke of a venue.

Why is it immature to point out that you are a fucking idiot who does not know english?? That is what is pretty lame dude.
And many people have given reasons why Interminable 5 sucks. Maybe if you had a better grasp of english you would understand. Again, the sightlines are awful. The sound is garbage. The place is an echo chamber that was not built to be a concert hall. Getting a drink is a fucking hassle. I could go on but there are 3 reasons.
"Here's the deal...if you don't like seeing Beastie Boys at an intimate venue"
No one in their right mind would call Interminable 5 an intimate venue. Mercury Lounge, Bowery Ballroom, even Webster Hall are intimate venues you jackass.
Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2008 4:50 PM
Ok..So I made a typo. Still doesn't make you Einstein. First of all there are at least 6 bars at the venue. Easiest place to get a drink. 2nd use a q-tip and clean out your ears. 3rd stop looking at a computer screen all day and get your eyes checked. Should I go on?
Please go on as to why Terminal 5 sucks. Many shows sold out there and will continue to sell out without you there. Obviously you and your 10 friends who complain here all the time don't need to attend
Stay home you will not be missed. I for one am happy new venues in NYC are opening.

Craig, nice try fuckwad but that was not a typo that you made. That was just a sign of stupidity. I may not be Einstein but i am sure as shit smarter than you.
But just to reply to some of the nonsense because you really are starting to sound like a Bowery Presents employee which i suspect you are. It can have 10000 bars in the place. If you cannot access them comfortably then who cares. If they are understaffed then what is the point. And i would say many people would challenge you on the statement that it is the easiest place to drink. The comment about using a q-tip to clean out my ears shows you really have zero clue what makes a good sounding venue. For example why don't you go look at the comments from the Mars Volta show on here and see how many people were pissed because the place completely swallowed up the acoustics of that band. Finally my eyes are fine. Again, many people have stated that unless you are up close the sightlines are terrible and this has nothing to do with a person's eyesight.
And i loved that last comment about how the place sells out all the time as that being a show of support for how good the venue is. You can't be serious with that bullshit right? Not to get too deep into how dumb that comment is but as an example let's take a movie like the recently opened Meet the Spartans. Now that is a dumb fucking piece of shit movie but it made millions and millions of dollars. So now is it an amazing piece of art? Just because people still go to Interminable 5 does not make the place a great concert venue. It just makes it clear that people want to see the bands they love and will suffer through to do it. Many more people then 10 have complained about the venue. Many of their shows took a while to sell out and were bullshit sell outs anyway.
Dude, you really are a fucking moron.
Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2008 11:51 PM
Man, you should be a stand up comic! What a moron? BWAHAHA! You still haven't added any new reasons why Terminal 5 sucks. Thanks for proving my point. :)
Posted by Craig | February 7, 2008 6:44 AM
Craig
Good retort. First you say no one gives any reasons and now it is no one has added any new reasons. The only point that has been proven is that you are a first class shithead.
But i invite you to go over to the Cat Power tour thread. I did not go to the show but from the initial posters who did it seemed as if they had major problems with Interminable 5 last night as well. Why don't you go over there and tell them how they are all wrong.
Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2008 9:06 AM
Every venue has an off night. I have seen bad sounding shows at Bowery and Mercury Lounge..what's your point? Some bands don't fit specific venues.
Posted by Craig | February 7, 2008 9:45 AM
Ahhahaha Mr Bowery Presents Craig. This is becoming laughable at best. Now it is just an off night huh. Seems to me, Interminable 5 is having a ton of off nights. You fucking joke. Go Away.
Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2008 10:03 AM
Oh Im exposed I really work for Bowery Persents. Shame on me...I'm so embarrased! I can't believe I like Terminal 5 I must be a loser. I and my fellow losers will enjoy our shows on our own.
Thank you for your intelligent dialog and discussion.

terminal 5's location sucks.

B'boys are old and gray.
Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2008 11:14 AM
I was at that Cat Power show mentioned above. Anyone who defends that place is insane. I've never been to a venue w/ worse accoustics or a muddier sound system. The sight lines aren't great either. I didn't think I'd ever say this, but evn Roseland is better than that place. I will never go back.
Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2008 11:22 AM
The only complaint is about the sound for Cat Power? That's not the venue's fault. That is the band sound guy's fault.
Understaffed bar? I had no trouble getting drinks at any of the 3 shows i have been to at Terminal 5.
Posted by Syd | February 7, 2008 12:37 PM

BEASTIE BOYS' THE MIX-UP WINS GRAMMY FOR BEST POP INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM
Beastie Boys schooled Chris Botti, Dave Koz, Spyro Gyra and Kirk Whalum and took home the Best Pop Instrumental Album Grammy at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards.
The Mix-Up is the band's first instrumental Grammy and third Grammy overall, the previous two wins being in the Best Rap and Best Alternative categories for 1998's Hello Nasty.
Beastie Boys are currently in the studio but will be taking a break from their recording schedule to play three shows this spring:
03/04/08 - Terminal 5 - New York, NY
* Special benefit for the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (SOLD OUT)
03/07/08 - Big Cypress Indian Reservation - Clewiston, FL
* Langerado Music Festival
03/08/08 - Centro Dinamico Pegaso - Mexico City, MX
* Beat Soundfest

Oh what a waste of my time.....if not my cash for a good cause. Term 5 continues to suck ass....but never thought the Beastie Boys would too.
Not only did I drop $113 for pre-sale tickets, including Ticketbastard charges, but I got to experience one of my all time favorite bands showing that they could really give a shit about the show.
I was also disappointed by the crowd. B-Boys in their home town and all you could muster up is a single weak ass "yeah" when they ask if Manhattan's in the house...A complete disappointment the whole way around. Suppose I should sleep better knowing the money is supposed to go to a good cause instead of the pockets of all the powers that be….but I assume 90% is sucked up by those powers anyway.
Oh yeah, how about Moby learns that he’s a man and hosts a concert as though he’s a famous artist who’s played to thousands of people countless times instead of a complete scared geek?!
Posted by edubb | March 5, 2008 1:08 AM
^^^^it was not like you and everyone else were warned that this show was gonna suck
Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2008 2:17 AM
i actually thought the show was great. however, their performance of "sabotage" at the end was probably one of the worst live performances i have ever seen.
Posted by jason | March 5, 2008 8:19 AM
i thought the show was alright. I've seen them four times now and nothing could really top last summers shows (central park and hammerstien) but it was certainly better then they were at Field Day. They did have a bunch of technical difficulties at first but once they got a groove going, i thought it was alright. Both their rapping and instrumentals were solid and i was definitely glad to check it out. They are not the best live band out there but they one of my favorite bands of all time so i am glad anytime i see them.
I would bash T-5 but what can i say that hasn't already been said a million times. Oh well, just one of those evils you have to deal with i suppose.
Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2008 9:33 AM
yeah, my entire night was also ruined by the fact that the people who live in manhattan didn't scream louder when asked to by the bboys. i mean, can you believe that?! i was grooving along till that happened...then it all fell apart and the rest of the show sucked.
i could only imagine what it must have been like for the brooklyn and jersey folks who were able to muster much louder screams...the show they saw must have been sooo much better.
oh well.
Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2008 10:14 AM
"I would bash T-5 but what can i say that hasn't already been said a million times. Oh well, just one of those evils you have to deal with i suppose."
What was there to bash? I thought Terminal 5 was fine for a larger venue. they have to have security guards, and it's crowded... but how is that different from any other place of it's size?
Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2008 10:40 AM
"yeah, my entire night was also ruined by the fact that the people who live in manhattan didn't scream louder when asked to by the bboys. i mean, can you believe that?!"
Do you think that might be because the show was attended by predominantly bridge and tunnel douche bags? I felt like I was at a frat party in Jersey.
Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2008 10:43 AM
"i could only imagine what it must have been like for the brooklyn and jersey folks who were able to muster much louder screams"
Yeah, but how many of the "Brooklyn folk" are really from Brooklyn? Almost everyone that I meet that lives in Brooklyn just moved there. If you moved here during the Giuliani/Bloomberg administration, you are NOT a Brooklynite.
