And Calvin's people have agreed to let me record the Bowery Poetry Club show. Very cool.

beautiful quiet show 2NITE @ LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE MESSIAH --

CALVIN JOHNSON (K Records, Beat Happening, Halo Benders, etc) + Fred from Saturday Looks Good to Me + Karl Blau!!

====> MONDAY 2/18 @ LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE MESSIAH from Saturday Looks Good to Me
:::::: Karl Blau

[ LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE MESSIAH ]
129 Russell St @ Nassau | Greenpoint, Brooklyn G-Nassau or L-Graham | 8pm | all ages | $7 | no phone

[ CALVIN JOHNSON ]
Legendary deep throated K Records honcho from Olympia, also from Beat Happening, Dub Narcotic Sound System, Halo Benders. Latest LP out on K called 'Before the Dream Faded...'. Love or hate Calvin or what he helped create - he has always had a knack for writing clever and catchy songs with great sexy attitude and swaggering charm - not to mention awesome dance moves. With any luck, he will be playing a few of his old super smash hits. I'll be gunning for "Black Candy."

[ KARL BLAU ]
"Karl Blau is a musician based in Anacortes, Washington and member of the Knw-Yr-Own / K Records collective. He is very prolific and has played in D+, Brothers Blau, and Captain Fathom; and has collaborated extensively with Phil Elvrum (Elverum) / The Microphones / Mt Eerie." - Wikipedia Loops and gorgeous, whispered vocals above simple, zen-state inducing layered guitar. Karl's only living in NYC for a few months, check him out while you can. A treasure!
