Wonder what this means for Ozzfest considering both tours will overlap.

Next time you promote anything that has to do with Rockstar Energy Drink, please take into consideration who owns and profits from the beverage. Here's some information about Michael Weiner (aka talk show radio host Michael Savage).

Whether you promote anything with them again or not, I thought it would be good information for you to have.

After 'Blood Mountain' Mastodon did 3 full US tours and directly preceding the release of that album they did the Unholy Alliance tour with Slayer and Lamb Of God etc. Before that they toured relentlessly. I guess they've figured out how big their audience is and how much they stand to make from a headlining, non-festival tour. Mastodon are all in their mid-thirties, two of them have kids, and they claim not to have seen a dime from Relapse from 'Leviathan' royalties. I think it's safe to say they're doing this tour for the money and the opportunity to expand their audience past hipster metal enthusiasts (myself included) and into more commercial metal audiences.

Is System of a Down on the tour? maybe a cage match to close things out?

Posted by Anonymous | February 6, 2008 11:20 AM

Carl--

Yeah, I know what you mean. I realize they have to pay the bills and stuff, I'm just kinda bummed that they have to do this crap to do so.

Hey, slipknot needs to hit the BIG TOWN of Billings MT, Ozzy did and you should have seen the turn out for the that, so come to the BIG SKY and get some fresh air slipknot it would be the sickest concert ever lets see if you can live up to Ozzy turn out and don't to forget to bring mastodon

Posted by sam iam | July 3, 2008 12:18 PM

wow! Mastodon should not be touring with these fuck heads!!!

Posted by Ryan | January 11, 2009 7:34 PM

I have to laugh at kids who dis on mastodon. Why does every band have to have some lame gimmick to be "cool"? They're normal dudes who used to rip faces off in atlanta and made it big out of sheer originality and musicianship. They don't need masks, claims of 'insanity' and huge explosives to light up a stage.

and then I realized I'm lecturing 14 year olds over the internet. . .
