i thought this band was only 2 guys ?

When they play the song 'kids' is it basically a karaoke deal? No one plays any instruments during that song.

I love the album but they're not quite good enough musicians to pull it off live. Especially the rhythm section.

I like some of the tracks on the album, but from what I've read, it doesn't sound like they put on much of a live show.

what ever happened to the french kicks?

their album is fantastic. with this kind of songwriting talent, they have a good chance of getting much bigger. and if they improve the live show, they could be huge.

They used to be a two piece. (well they were a two piece when I saw them open for Of Montreal in Toronto)

"with this kind of songwriting talent, they have a good chance of getting much bigger. and if they improve the live show, they could be huge."
i totally agree...with lyrics like:
I'm Feelin rough I'm Feelin raw I'm in the prime of my life.
Let's make some music make some money find some models for wives.
I'll move to Paris, shoot some heroin and fuck with the stars.
You man the island and the cocaine and the elegant cars.
it is only a matter of time until MTV comes calling

saw them last nite and thought they were dope.
not exactly tight, but full of young energy that
the nyc music scene needs.
people were actually dancing and smiling.
refreshing.

MTV would never promote anything produced by no talent dummies. NEVER!

that's the only good song on the album.
the rest is underwhelming.
like 2:32 said, an okay band at best.

I thought they did a great job opening for Yeasayer and Black Mountain. Kids is a decent song, and Time To Pretend and The Youth are also worth a listen.

love that video.

Hey, the whole (pick something unhip) made me "vomit in my mouth a little" is really tired. Time for a new "zinger," dude.

I think "Time to Pretend" is a great song. Their performance on Letterman was a bit lackluster. Plus the vocals were way too low.

I really like these guys alot. Everything has its own purpose, some things dont have to be broken down and analyzed. I HATE snobs no matter what we're talking about. People like that suck. Cant say or see anything good because you appreciate NOTHING. I have yet to see them live, which I do have to agree if a band is a let down live, I'm just not that into them afterwards. It was like the opposite when I first heard Stars of Track+Field, and then saw them. Now THAT is an awesome live act.

I think that people forget that not everyone has to like the same kinds of music, agree to disagree. Everyone is way too concerned with what music is cool and uncool, and if/how MTV has affected them. I hope you realize not liking something because MTV has touched on it is just as bad as loving something just because MTV has promoted it.
People should listen to music that they like JUST because they like it, for whatever reason. It doesn't matter if someone thinks it sucks, or if they're getting "too mainstream", all that matters is that you like it.
These bands play music to express themselves, for themselves, not for us. The second a band starts playing for money or for their fans, and not for themselves, is when I'll start losing respect for them.

i love this band. and like someone said already you should like music and listen to it because it inspires something or creates an emotion within you. not because mtv does or doesn't promote it. its ok not to like it but dont diss a good band because mtv thinks other people will them too.
