Passive agressive?

Posted by treece | February 20, 2008 11:06 AM

Because Brooklyn is a dump and full of assholes?

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 11:16 AM

ha ha ha... i'll tell you why. because people in Brooklyn are so inside their own little hipster world they don't realize everyone thinks it is ridiculous..

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 11:18 AM

Ahh, the Charter Oak. "Peace, CONNECTICUT!"

Posted by brassbonanza | February 20, 2008 11:24 AM

because brooklyn hipsters are vapid, self-absorbed primadonas

Posted by eric | February 20, 2008 11:26 AM

i remember being at a low show at the bowery ballroom years ago and during the opener, pedro the lion, someone threw a cassette tape onto the stage. the lead singer picked it up and complimented the artist oh his name, "arms and legs," and said he'd listen to it that night.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 11:34 AM

cant u fckers let up? jeez man. look at all the naysayers-they're the first to throw up their post...obviously youre more interested in this dump called brooklyn than people from brooklyn. where the fck do you think the brooklyn in brooklynvegan came from?

if you dont like brooklyn, go read pitchfork...they'll water things down for you.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 11:34 AM

anyone who has been to danbury knows that brooklyn is fucking gold in comparison...

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 11:35 AM

Im from Queens. Yeah it sucks, I know it. I wish I lived in Brooklyn...

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 11:46 AM

i do live in brooklyn and i love it. i just get a little tired of the pretension and apathy.

i'm not writing this from arkansas...

Posted by eric | February 20, 2008 11:49 AM

danbury is the new astoria

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 11:50 AM

Funny, everyone I've met from CT hated it there. To each his own I guess.

Posted by Lars | February 20, 2008 11:51 AM

isn't brooklyn in jersey?

fucking gross.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 11:51 AM

the moment you start calling people hipsters is the moment you become one. what good is it judging people? what good is it judging an area and basing that judgement on an area's media hype? come to brooklyn first, hangout for a while, go to somewhere that ISN'T williamsburg, and then maybe you'll see it's a lot different and diverse than you thought it was.

Posted by brian | February 20, 2008 11:55 AM

Ah, I'm from Connecticut and going to school in Brooklyn next year. But that doesn't really matter at all.

Posted by Narayan | February 20, 2008 12:12 PM

Haters.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 12:13 PM

I'm from Brooklyn, live here and think it's a dump and full of assholes. That doesn't make me a hater, just a realist. It's better than Manhattan, but that's not saying much.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 12:18 PM

new haven is cooler than brooklyn

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 12:18 PM

"come to brooklyn first, hangout for a while, go to somewhere that ISN'T williamsburg, and then maybe you'll see it's a lot different and diverse than you thought it was."

Posted by brian | February 20, 2008 11:55 AM

You work for the chamber of commerce or something? Why the fuck do you care if people like your burrough so much? Worried about your property values?

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 12:31 PM

wait....bear hands are from brooklyn, and they're playing the not brooklyn fest....i'm confused

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 12:34 PM

new haven > brooklyn.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 12:36 PM

bear hands are Connecticut natives. They sold out and moved to Brooklyn

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 12:37 PM

Guys named Chad and Pierce are psyched that a festival is finally happening in their 'hood.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 12:39 PM

people that could even TRY to compare any "city" from CT with Brooklyn, have quite obviously never lived in both of them....

i am REALLY happy that danbury is making it's mark here with some actual Decent bands thatdo not involve DMB for a change... BUT- those who want to pretend that Brooklyn isn't a haven for great music, artists, bars and restaurants are simply kidding themselves.

like someone said before me, this website is called brooklynvegan for a reason.
Good luck to those still trying to find something to do besides hit the diner after 2am.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 12:43 PM

Bear Hands are not "from Brooklyn."

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 12:45 PM

every area within 100 miles of new york has a serious infiriority complex going on.. the best part is that no one ever pays any attention to those other places because, well, they do 1 cool thing every 5 of 8 months.

BUUUUUT since brooklyn vegan has a boner for deer tick we all get to hear about things happening in places we dont care about.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 1:16 PM

Indie rock will save Connecticut.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 1:16 PM

i can't wait to read the review on Danburyvegan.com

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 1:20 PM

I like next to Danbury and we've been getting great shows recently. Melt Banana, With Honor, No Age, its nice to see awesome shows so close. And yes anon 1:16, indie rock will save connecticut

i cant wait for NBF! Cursive, Bear Hands, Dead Meadow, Deer Tick all equals a win to me.

& New Haven >>>> Brooklyn

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 1:27 PM

" The moment you start calling people hipsters is the moment you become one"

What? Huh?

This doesn't make any sense.

If I call anyone something I then become the thing that I named the person?

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 1:35 PM

The rubber and glue rule of internet reciprocity is law, dumbass.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 1:38 PM

Brooklyn killed it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 1:47 PM

bear hands is not good

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 2:12 PM

Is this called Not Brooklynfest because its the sort of show that got laughed out of Brooklyn?

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 2:23 PM

If people always mean something bad by "Hipster," something like "pretentious poseur," then what do you call someone who is genuinely cool and knows about cool bands and art movements and such before the mainstream media get their hands all over these things and imitators produce watered-down versions? Do people bother thinking up words and phrases that are complimentary or is there use only for ways to describe how fake and lame and annoying people/things are?

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 3:20 PM

Connecticut's for fucking!

Posted by Jesus H. Christ and the Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse | February 20, 2008 4:07 PM

i heard that you and your band are selling your guitars and moving to danbury.

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 4:09 PM

Queens is the new awesome.

Posted by Brandon | February 20, 2008 5:18 PM

i don't know any of those people anyway.

Posted by Mandy | February 20, 2008 5:37 PM

Jersey > u

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 5:49 PM

Connecticut > Jersey by a lot

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 5:58 PM

danbury v. brooklyn

lets fight. i think it would be close except...oh i was thinking of donnybrook farms nevermind

Posted by staten island | February 20, 2008 5:58 PM

"i heard that you and your band are selling your guitars and moving to danbury."

Nice one.

Posted by Mark B. | February 20, 2008 6:12 PM

danbury isn't that bad, relax

Posted by Anonymous | February 20, 2008 7:03 PM

the funny thing is we really don't have anything against brooklyn... it's just a name kids

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2008 2:30 AM

that's not true

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2008 8:59 AM

I moved to Brooklyn in 1995. Brooklyn wasn't even "Brooklyn" then. Now it is more like a suburban mall --- there's American Apparel, a need a quick Starbucks, where can I get my IPhone serviced?

Sex in the City is what killed NY. We really need a recession to wipe all this shit out. I never thought I'd miss the Dot.Com bust of 1997 . . .

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2008 9:36 AM

what are you, some kind of nihilist?

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2008 10:18 AM

They're nihilist Donny.

The DotCom craze started in 1997, the bust wasn't until 2000.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2008 10:37 AM

http://www.newjerseyhipster.com/

i think this has everyone beat. i hope people catch on and move out. high five for nihilism.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2008 5:39 PM

come on kids, Danbury = Brooklyn , if you can't live in Manhattan you might as well live in Danbury where the rents might be expensive, but still not as bad as freaking Williamsburg. In Danbury you can get a nice 2 bedroom, with space, for like 1100 or 1200. In Williamsburg, how much money are you paying to live with 6 or 7 roommates? be honest.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2008 12:30 PM

Brooklyn is sick!

Posted by Anonymous | February 24, 2008 2:42 PM

new haven >brooklyn>danbury

Posted by Anonymous | February 24, 2008 2:57 PM

woooo i work for wxci 91.7fm

Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2008 12:35 PM

park slope is more creative then williamsburg

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2008 4:30 PM

man I used to love WXCI. if that station hadn't shown me what good music was, and if the danbury walls weren't so fun to paint, I might never have ended up in the bk. The name of the show is a little insecure and hater, but I don't mind. Maybe someday New Fairfield will have a "not danbury" show and maybe then they'll know how much it stings.

Posted by simon | April 18, 2008 6:48 PM

Yea in high school I listened to WXCI all the time. Turned me on to lots of good songs. And the DJs were always really nice when i called up to ask what it was they were playing. Also my mom used to listen to it with me in the car and she would always laugh at the PSAs and the station IDs. good stuff.

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2008 9:39 PM

It's cool to see Danbury doin' somethin'...last time was the Sonic Youth pre-Dirty show at Tuxedo's...and I lived in N.H. for 12 years and am now in Brooklyn...for a FUCKING REASON...CT would be good if there was ANYTHING going on...Breeders at Toads=good, everything else in the state=bad...punk died with Wendy O in that state...take my word...btw...Deer Tick are really good...they will a be major players (albet if they get rid of the stupid name, or keep it, dunno)...Thurston Moore moved out of DANBURY for a FUCKIN REASON...and NH people plez...go to Hula Hanks and date rape your sister? Come on...Tune Inn is gone...you dumb asses cant even remember the Moon...that is why anyone who knew for the last 20 went to RI...Babyhead...know what the fuck you are postin about before the fingers hit the keyboard...Bunny Brains were cool, so was Monsterland...Jasta 14, Blind Justice, and that other dumb-ass metal 'staveners...plez...move to BKLYN or stay out...1 or the other..
