if they keep talking about the environmental impact of touring, how does it make sense to play the US, then go back to europe and then come back to the US?

Rowboats.

do you think they will play more than one date in nyc (other than the liberty park stuff) ie 2 at msg?

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:45 PM

12:41, nah man, philly, boston, etc will be for late may. only the APW festival will be in august.

Posted by bobby the rookie | February 12, 2008 12:45 PM

Tickets are sold out already for shows that haven't even been annouced yet. That's the power the ticket brokers have.

Posted by MusicSnobbery | February 12, 2008 12:45 PM

theres a post on the coachella boards claiming that they are playing 10 nights at hammerstein..thats obviously bullshit

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:46 PM

musicsnobbery - that makes no sense - what do you mean?

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:50 PM

if you see they are playing all amphitheaters and skipping arenas, why for god's sakes would you think they would play MSG?

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:50 PM

theyll play arenas as well..nissan pavilion is huge. and i think theyre playin wachovia center in philly.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:52 PM

well, re msg - it's not a terrible thought...their last ampitheater show, they did play the theater at msg...

u guys could be talking about the same thing.

Daft Punk for Pres!

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:52 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:54 PM

radiohead should open for justice at msg

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:56 PM

i always believe an anonymous blog comment...always!

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:56 PM

more interesting question: who do you think they'll tap to be the opener? please don't say daft punk, or do say daft punk, if you are so inclined...

Posted by cranky | February 12, 2008 12:56 PM

itll be a smaller indie act - theyll change up the opener every few shows. black keys played in 06.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:58 PM

From Ateaseweb:
"It has now been confirmed that the shows in Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Montreal, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Seattle, Toronto and Vancouver will all take place in August 2008. Dates and venues for these cities will be announced later on."

musicsnobbery please change your name to musicmoron. None of the shows are sold out yet.

And yes it is well known around the concert biz that the NYC show is at MSG.

thanks anon 12:58

Posted by chris | February 12, 2008 1:00 PM

I just checked, Nissan Pavilion is an amphitheater. Looks like any amphitheater you can think of like that place in Philly/Camden which name I forget, or sort of like Jones Beach.

My guess would be Radio City or MSG theater. Yeah people will be left out but hopefully this NJ festival thing is solid so you can see them there. Remember they also played Bonnaroo 2 years ago so if you missed the other dates there was always that option open if you really wanted to see them.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 1:00 PM

sorry, always trust a blog comment if his name is chris...always!

I'm going in Mexican garb.

Posted by Marcela | February 12, 2008 1:07 PM

yeah Tweeter Center. sorry.

Honestly if they are playing all amphitheaters and only arena show is MSG, that just defies logic.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 1:13 PM

now they have a chance of playing lolla

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 1:20 PM

Anon 1:13, Actually, that is exactly what they did on the 2003 and 2001 tours (played MSG while playing amphitheaters in most/all other u.s. cities). check yourself.

Posted by Jego | February 12, 2008 1:22 PM

"if you see they are playing all amphitheaters and skipping arenas, why for god's sakes would you think they would play MSG?"

because there are no open air amphitheaters in manhattan genius. and do you think they are not going to play manhattan? they will play the tweeter center in camden, MSG, and Liberty State Park, and maybe pnc arts center in holmdel.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 1:22 PM

I heard the Philly show may be at the new baseball park.

Posted by Jeff | February 12, 2008 1:23 PM

Hey everyone,

I have to go to Williamsburg tonight for the Kooks show. I was wondering if they still take American currency over in Williamsburg or do I have to barter for food with rare Velvet Underground vinyls? Please let me know ehn you can. Thanks!

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 1:31 PM

i cant help you there, i try to avoid williamsburg

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 1:35 PM

Anon 1:31:

Polish Zloty banknotes generally work in Williamsburg, as long are you stick close to McCarren Park.

Enjoy the Kooks show!

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 1:37 PM

the US dollar? soo 2007 - def not.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 1:41 PM

Nissan Pavilion sucks and is like an hour drive through massive traffic from dc....so much for the environment.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 1:48 PM

Williamsburg also accepts Kevin Shields's pubes as currency.

That, and money that you can prove has been gifted to hipsters (preferably dirty hipsters) by their parents.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:00 PM

Williamsburg only barters in shitty cocaine and indifference

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:15 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:28 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:28 PM

Daft Punk get food given to them for free in Williamsburg.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:29 PM

Daft Punk don't need food, dummy, they're robots!

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:31 PM

Daft punk arent robots, dummy, theyre parisians!

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:34 PM

Same thing

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:35 PM

leave it to some losers in Williamsburg to talk about Daft Punk in the presence of Radiohead.

Radiohead = great band

Daft Punk = robotic nonsense

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:45 PM

I didn't say that they NEED food, just they are given it free in Williamsburg. I am not privy to what they then do with the food.

And I am NOT in Williamsburg. Don't live there, don't work there, can't remember the last time I was there.

radiohead opens for dan deacon at the market hotel on march 7, with todd p's most inept intern mixing sound...there's already a line 2 blocks long!

i'm no expert, but this seems like it could lead to a fire hazard...

"radiohead opens for dan deacon at the market hotel on march 7, with todd p's most inept intern mixing sound...there's already a line 2 blocks long!"

Please NEVER mention Radiohead and Dan Deacon again in the same breath! Okay? Thanks!

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 3:34 PM

I almost spewed coffee all over the computer to that one. 3:28 you are quite fucking funny!

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 3:34 PM

RH usually pick terrible openers. Let me preface with this. RH is my absolute favorite band and I love the bands they choose (Low, Willy Mason, Malkmus, etc)....just not as openers for their show. Beta Band was a great choice though as was Asian Dub Foundation. Low is great and I see them every time they tour, but as openers for RH they are awful. When I go to a Low show I know what to expect, but their vibe is a total downer for a RH show. Same goes with Willy Mason. I would love to see someone who actually made me excited. How pumped would you be to have Dungen or Caribou or Notwist or DMST as the opening band? Ok, just my thought!

ps - I am super-excited for this tour!

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 3:44 PM

Does anyone know what time the tickets will go onsale on W.A.S.T.E. on Thursday? Will it be early AM like last US tour?

Posted by Selma | February 12, 2008 3:44 PM

yeah too bad those florida dates are mon. and tues, if that was the weekend, I would seriosly considering flying down there for those shows (assuming I could get tickets)

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 4:02 PM

While were here can someone explain to me this running joke involving Daft Punk?

Posted by Les | February 12, 2008 4:07 PM

Everyone 'on the inside' knows 'Kid A' was actually music by Daft Punk with Thom Yorke adding vocals over it! Trust me, I'm in the music industry!

Posted by greg | February 12, 2008 4:59 PM

very nice crying of lot 49.

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 8:19 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2008 11:16 AM

depends on each venue

Posted by cdubya | February 14, 2008 11:24 AM

Where would you be able to find it out? I've looked online a few places.. I was just wondering, for the Houston show at least, how hopeless for a good seat the situation is at this point. Ha.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2008 7:24 PM

was up all night working on an architecture project and hitting refresh

but then passed out for 15 minutes

and when i hit refresh the site stalled, opened up, and they were sold out for dallas.

upsetting.

anyone know if there's a chance of getting a decent seat when they go on general sale?

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2008 7:57 PM

fuck radio head.. there is no way daft punk would open for them

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2008 1:11 PM

Does anyone know the deal with the Radiohead presale tomorrow morning? Do you need a password? If so, do you know what it is?

Posted by Mark B. | April 10, 2008 9:55 PM

It's too bad that according to Radiohead, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver are apparently the only places in Canada that exist. Sigh.
