Madonna is not bad at pop dance music.John Mellencamp sings that annoying car commercial, but the songs where he sounded like Bruce are good I guess. The Ventures & Dave Clark 5-they had some good hits about a hundred years ago I guess.

What year does Daft Punk become eligible?

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2008 9:01 PM

Ah, merde ! It would've been cleverer had I wrote, "What year does Daft Punk get in?"

Posted by Anon. 9:01 | February 26, 2008 9:40 PM

Daft Punk is eligible in 2022

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2008 10:48 PM

Fugazi would be eligible in 2014, (1989 + 25 = 2014, correct?). I can't see them ever getting in though.

the ventures are AMAZING. definite pioneers of instrumental rock. they took surf rock in some totally different directions.

that photo of madonna playing a guitar cracks me up.

Can we hope for an L Cohen/Madonna duet?

Oh cool, but they forgot to mention who would be inducting The Stooges. I'd love to get that information.

Wait- what? They're not getting in? Again?

Sweet.

re: the stooges. they are not being inducted but heard a rumor that they are going to be there this year.

Domenick, there's a rap crew in the R&R HoF. I guess "Post-World War II Popular Music Hall of Fame" doesn't roll off the tongue.

If only "inducted" meant "stuffed and mounted"!

The fact that 80's dance-pop 'ho Madonna is already being inducted, while Neil Diamond probably has to wait to die to get inducted is a joke.Who has been more influential to rock n roll? The fact that Nick Cave, Richard Ashcroft,Eric Bachmann,Conor Oberst, etc all have been compared to Diamond at some point speaks volumes to his influence 43 years after "Solitary Man" was a hit.The original and distinctive guitar-based sound that the dude born in Brooklyn has.

Would Madonna be inducted if she hadn't sold billions of records? I think nots.

Posted by drewo | February 27, 2008 2:15 PM

leonard and lou can trade stories about nico.

Posted by Anonymous | February 27, 2008 3:01 PM

forget about madonna, i'm just bewildered by the induction of the dave clark 5, really?

Posted by AguaLinda | February 27, 2008 4:37 PM

madonna can still kick most people's asses, in a cross-legged yoga posture. who wouldn't want their mom to be a kick ass 50 year old yoga pop rock diva? well, fuck, don't answer that.

So The Stooges get overlooked again? Still what can you expect if the likes of Dave Clark Five can be entered in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Let's face it, when your name appears in this musical graveyard, you are good as dead anyway.

The direct opposite of The Stooges......
