NYHCThe brothers Koller (aka Sick Of It All) won't be there, but the brothers Miret (Roger Miret, Agnostic Front) & Cricien (Freddy Cricien, Madball) will..... and by there I mean the Black & Blue Bowl 2008. This year's festival (FKA the Superbowl Of Hardcore) will take place at Studio B (same as last year) and will feature, in addition to NYHC legends and headliners Agnostic Front & Madball, LA's Terror, a reunited Breakdown, Fahrenheit 451, Backfire, Setback and many others.... Tickets are on sale here.

NYHCSo just because the Koller brothers won't be there, don't mean they slackin on they pimpin.... au contraire! The boys will be preparing for a two month European tour with Wisdom In Chains, but not before showing the east coast some love... including this Saturday night (Feb 9) at the Highline Ballroom (tickets are still available) with Black & Blue Bowl participants Death Before Dishonor & Bloodclot (featuring John Joseph of the Cro-Mags, who just released his memoirs). SBOH flyer, and all dates, below....

Seeing AF the first time they did the reunion thing 10 years ago was unbelievable. Probably the punk show I've ever seen. No breaks between songs. Total energy. No-one can stir up a frenzy like them. Entering the pit is like taking a big old hit of crystal meth. But all those other bands are complete garbage. Also, the Special Guest is Daft Punk.

Oh yeah, I (first poster) should probably clarify. I kind of like some of Agnostic Front's old stuff. They're pretty good live, and Vinnie Stigma is a pretty down to earth guy. But the rest of the lineup is trash.

1984+ shows are not hardcore.

@2:27, hahaha, Shutdown played the first show i ever went to. Along with tension* and the almighty Indecision

Posted by Anonymous | February 8, 2008 3:26 PM

I always prefered Indecision with Artie on vocals. I think I'm the only one.

inhuman are from sheepshead bay no?

never really got into those smaller bands...though shutdown were okay.

i just remember those 20 band showcases at coney island high and wetlands...terrorzone, 25 ta life,bulldoze...

the only ones i can still stomach from those days are sheer terror, warzone, gorilla biscuits and some other from the 80s.

all i remember from the 90s was h20 coming to nyc and sweating the nyhc scene.

Sheer Terror were the greatest. Joe Coffee, the band Paul is singing with now is pretty fucking bad ass too. Check 'em out.

I CANNOT BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT SICK OF IT ALL TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2008 9:55 PM

Indeed re: Death Before Dishonor. They eventually become Supertouch and released a 7", an Lp called The Earth is Flat and some comp tracks (including a song on Revelation's The Way It Is and maybe they had a song on the New Breed comp but don't quote me on that last one). In fact, when I saw that listing, I was wondering if it was the same band, though I just assumed it was another band taking that name. Then again, it wouldn't be any different from a band like Earth taking that name when it was Black Sabbath's original name, for instance.

Also, I think it's cool that Breakdown is on that bill, too.
