just retarded to make it same weekend as APW

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 4:08 PM

Lets just hope it has a better line up than APW.

Posted by jen | February 22, 2008 4:15 PM

What is APW?

Posted by APW? | February 22, 2008 4:15 PM

can they get radiohead for sunday?

Posted by James Snuka | February 22, 2008 4:16 PM

So this is the same week as All Points West? Great idea! This should insure that both festivals fail.

Posted by Count Raffulon | February 22, 2008 4:22 PM

maybe this will actually have bands worth seeing

Posted by bm | February 22, 2008 4:23 PM

nah they wont get radiohead for sunday, theyre already playing virginia in may

Posted by bobby the rookie | February 22, 2008 4:25 PM

well if they can't get radiohead, they should make this more of a rock show to distinguish it from APW. they should get foos, STP, maybe metallica to headline

Posted by James Snuka | February 22, 2008 4:32 PM

No matter who this festival announces, you bitch whiny sniveling hipster fags will undoubtedly come up with a string of 200 posts on how the lineup sucks. I hope they just announce Daft Punk, that seems to be the one thing that you f*cktards on here can agree on.

And if they do, does anyone know what time they'll go on?

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 4:46 PM

If they can get a good lineup, then APW on Friday, Virgin on Sat/Sun. Works for me.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 4:46 PM

The line up could be an all star revival of The Ramones, The Beatles, My Bloody Tampon, and Nirvana, promising to culminate in an all-star jam, and these spoiled brats would still find some way to rag on it.

So do your best Virgin, we're ready for it!

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 4:48 PM

I LIKE POOP!

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 4:49 PM

the line-up sucks!

Posted by marty mcfly | February 22, 2008 4:51 PM

Here are my pre-emptive complaints:

I can't believe they're going on before them!

I would so much rather see them on their own tour than pay this much to see all these other shitty bands.

There's that specific number of stages? WTF?

Why hasn't my weekly trust fund payment been deposited yet?

That is all.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 4:57 PM

"Why hasn't my weekly trust fund payment been deposited yet?"

heh

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 5:03 PM

Jack Johnson will play on Saturday because he's a festival whore

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 5:09 PM

"My Bloody Tampon... would still find some way to rag on it."

Intentional? If so, well played.

Posted by Mark B. | February 22, 2008 5:11 PM

im sick of these festivals already. nothing really makes them special anymore.

from now on im only seeing shows at silent barn or market hotel

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 5:14 PM

From now on, I'm only seeing Beethoven when he plays those shows in my bathtub.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 5:32 PM

now if only vineland was still on for the same weekend.

Posted by jojo | February 22, 2008 6:03 PM

will beth-ditto and any other overweight artists be on the bill?

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 6:19 PM

When and why did you numbskulls start hyphenating Beth Ditto's name?

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 7:53 PM

what time are they gonna operation elephant drop beth ditto onto festival grounds

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 9:03 PM

I doubt MBV will play it. Or if they do, it better not be on a radiohead date.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 9:19 PM

Well they'll obviously pull in big bands and I bet they'll expand it this year, theyve already added another day to it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 9:23 PM

Anon. 9:03 PM, the movie you're thinking of is "Operation *DUMBO* Drop." Dumbass.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 10:52 PM

I hear it's gonna be The Boss. I heart Beth-Ditto...

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2008 10:56 PM

the captain and tennille. eddie murphy. kitaro. dogstar. bay city rollers. white snake. vanilla ice. oasis. the divinyls. sir mix-a-lot. michael mcdonald. and a reformed styx.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2008 12:10 AM

ashy knucks is headlining the 2nd night

Posted by tardbot | February 23, 2008 12:28 AM

Even with the good bands that were on this last year, it was still quite a miserable event... crowd and venue wise

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2008 3:52 AM

V-Fest is gonna make the APW look like a high school talent show.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2008 9:59 AM

3:52 not as miserable as some people who post comments here.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2008 10:30 AM

"I doubt MBV will play it. Or if they do, it better not be on a radiohead date."

Uh, Radiohead are playing two nights. Makes choices easier, doesn't it?

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2008 11:44 AM

10:30, nah its pretty miserable - youve obvisouly never been. or if you have been, youve never been to good festivals such as coachella and bonnaroo. i will never go back to v fest..regardless of who is playing. two years is enough for me, im giving up on that festival.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2008 1:02 PM

Beth---Ditto in "Operation Dumbo Drop"

Agreed. Gone for two years for good bands. Still had a lousy time (except, notably, at the side stage). Time for something different this year.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2008 5:36 PM

Lollapalooza!

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2008 7:06 PM

1:02, Im 10:30. Ive been to Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Pitchfork, and V-fest. Whatever miserability factor of Baltimore is (bad transport options and surrounding area) I still would have prob went last year if not for Lolla which was same weekend, and now this year the choice is obvious as well.

Posted by Anonymous | February 24, 2008 1:27 AM

thats so stupid they have it on the same days..is APW trying to prove something ha? I just dont get it. REM might be a headliner

Posted by Anonymous | February 24, 2008 2:18 PM

all i have to say is TIESTO for the dance tent

Posted by Anonymous | March 3, 2008 12:48 PM

I'm not sure what the deal is with virgin going head to head with APW this year, after the lolla "fiasco" last year. Fortunately, at least as far as headliners go, lolla & apw usually grab the "hipster" groups (hip euro-uk bands and alot of indies filling the rest of the line up out.

fortunately, since that's not my "gig", virgin usually goes after the big "rock" acts, or reunion dinosaurs, but leans a bit more mainstream (i'm a product of gen-x, so apw & lolla don't do it for me anyway, i'm looking for stp, foo, chris cornell, queens of the stone age, etc..). oh and btw, appaerntly there's a new(?) festival in japan on the same weekend!!

as a life-long resident of the baltimore area, it's sad to see visitors perspectives of the city. what's even more sad, is how true it is. luckily for me though, i'm very familiar with the city (the good, well...maybe we'll just leave it at the bad and the ugly...). if you went to v-fest last year, and did your homework, they really had the transportation and everything worked out fairly well. i thought it went really smooth last year. just take the public transportation as it's described to you by virgin, take the shuttles etc... and you don't have to worry about "the ghetto" area that is pimlico.

no one in that neighborhood is going to mess with someone from the fest, as you usually have 45,000 strong all leaving the area together, plus the police (i can't believe i'm saying this and in a positive way) make their presence known, and it really is way safer than it appears to a visitor. so if you haven't attended virgin, and you're debating it, don't let the negative comments about the city/area deter you. and make friends ahead of time with someone local, so they can show you the ropes.

last year was a bit of a zoo trying to leave, with everyone trying to get on the shuttles for the 4 block ride. well my fiance and i decided we would just walk it, and took some fellow concert goers from out of town, that preferred to not have to wait for the shuttle scene to calm down either, on a nice scenic walk through the neighborhood, and got them right back to their cars way before the shuttles would've. they seemed very thankful.

in general, baltimore is like a dog, in the sense that, you let on an air of fear, and people will prey upon it. if you don't let it intimidate you, people will totally leave you alone. unfortunately though, some of the dog's are rabid though, so you should definitely stay in a group, and you'd be surprised how in reality, that neighborhood is more intimidated by the influx of 45,000 20 & 30 something's, than you are by being there, and the local folks tend to stay in line.

this is also the same weekend as the new vineland nj music fest (which is owned by lollapalooza)...

my guess is that vineland will get all the people who play lollapalooza so that will be a much better festival.

i think v-fest in baltimore will be more rap and metal.

Posted by juliette | March 11, 2008 10:11 AM

"this is also the same weekend as the new vineland nj music fest"

It's also the same weekend as the Horde tour and Lilith Fair.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2008 10:20 AM

Pitchfork Festival lineup announced. No MBV or Radiohead.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2008 10:25 AM

and field day festival.

Posted by Anonymous | March 11, 2008 10:25 AM

Vineland in NJ is not happening this year. The people doing it made a wise decision in putting it off for another year.

Currently, strongly rumored to headline one night are the Foo Fighters. Apparently a DC radio station leaked information stating that they were set to headline.

the red hot chili peppers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by luz | March 23, 2008 11:54 PM

I personally prefer the new age stuff and the indie but also the big rock group, i would like to see radiohead, justice, css, vampire weekend, NOT jackson
unfortunately
SUMMER SONIC in tokyo (its their big fest) is the same days as APW and V-fest. I do think APW could send saturday acts down and have them sunday virgin festival.

Posted by andgey andge | March 24, 2008 1:30 AM

all the acts are going to play one nite each of V-Fest, APW, and Summer Sonic. it doesn't matter which festival you go to

Posted by James Snuka | March 24, 2008 8:51 AM

gogol bordello, yeah yeah yeahs, justice, man man, shins, animal collective, beirut, gnarls barkley, decemberists, lily allen, black angels, amy winehouse, mars volta, m.i.a, mgmt, nin, of montreal, radiohead, queens of the stone age, sunset rubdown, tool, wolf parade, bjm...any of those bands will be just fine and dandy for me.

Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2008 8:07 PM

Last years Virgin Festival was AMAZING!!!! cant wait to go this year!!!! FUCK YEA!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 31, 2008 6:08 PM

I can't believe Jack Johnson is headling the Virgin Festival!!! WTF?!?

I hope he is playing on Friday night, so I can see Radiohead on Friday at APW, then go down to Virgin for Sat/Sun.

Radiohead notwithstanding, the lineup so far is better than All Points Weak.

Posted by Anonymous | April 1, 2008 4:08 PM

Damn, the Virgin Festival is only two days. I guess I will see Radiohead in DC or Boston and skip APW entirely. Not spending $100 for a lackluster festival.

Posted by Anonymous | April 1, 2008 4:10 PM

Pendulum has confirmed for V-Fest this year. Their live act alone will be worth the ticket!

Posted by alphakry | April 2, 2008 10:20 PM

Just release the full lineup already so i can officially be broke. Lolla and V-Fest in the same (long) week. Sounds like a road trip waiting to happen. Live it.

Posted by interwebhottie | April 8, 2008 4:22 PM

Does anyone know what the presale code will be for the August Virgin Festival shows in Baltimore? Thanks so much!
