The best live Hip Hop Jazz Rock band in New York City {Architects + Demoliotion Men} take to the AVAAZ stage again. With a head-spinning attack of dual-vocalists, percussion, horn, guitar, bass, and piano coupled with complexity and a much welcomed authenticity. The music comes from the center of the soul. ADM's live show is an experience that will stay with you.

NYC sonic slayers, Apollo Heights, will be on hand to rock your night. Recently returned from their tour with TV on the Radio. The Apollo Heights sound is a auditory assault with 3 guitars, exploring color, space, sensuality, and beat driven melodies with rhythmic and dynamic tension.

On the Decks will be Odessa DC, Bollygirl and Dimm.

Visuals, Dancing, Good Times.

Tonight @ Galapagos Art Space 70 North 6th St Brooklyn, NYC 10pm $7

Apollo Heights: "The best live band in New York" (FADER)

Architects + Demolition Men: "...If rockstars were method actors, these guys collectively are Marlon Brando in Streetcar Named Desire...." (Trenza)

About AVAAZ: At any given AVAAZ, one can hear a gamut of genre-defying beats, sounds and experimental offerings, be it spoken, danced, sung or splattered on a painter's canvas. Whether a chill-out scenario, frenzied socio-political spews from the MC, or a DJ's groove-driven, dance-laden subterranean dhol-n-bass hummin' thru your veins , this interactive forum opens dialog to all in attendance.

Sharon Jones killed it last night.

If Deer Tick played an amazing show but barely anyone hung around to see it, did they actually play the show? They were truly incredible but the crowd actually thinned out after Doveman. Silliness.

Every band that played in NYC last night KILLED it.

Schmucks

Deer Tick were hardly incredible. Good show with a good upbeat sense of humour (the wacky cover versions etc) but the show was far from incredible.

In all honesty Doveman were a little flat and disappointing overall as well even with Aaron from the National on bass. What was up with the guitar player. Was he trying to be the indie rock version of Buckethead?

anybody go to BAM for tvotr?

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2008 1:47 PM

Doveman just aren't that good. Aaron from the National added nothing - he played the bass lines written for the other bassist. Nothing special, even if they put him right in the middle.

Deer Tick was very, very good. Incredible? Not sure. But the lead singer has great stage presence and they played the hell out of the songs on the album, plus the Prine cover. I could have done without the Smells LIke Teen Spirit cover.
