Impossible ticket for the Bowery Show. There are some tickets on craigslist, but they seem to disappear before I even see the posts. And its a shame because I have an informal ok to tape the MGMT set.

nyctaper, it is not an impossible ticket. Keep checking ticketmaster today to see if they put more on sale and i am sure if all else fails, if you go to bowery an hour before the show you will be able to pick up a ticket outside for maybe even less than face.

$100/ticket on craigslist? fucking insane...didnt these guys just play a $10 show at the merc a few weeks ago?

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:34 PM

No one is actually paying 100/ticket. That is what some idiot is asking and trying to get. They wont get it. Again, try ticketmaster all day today and tomorrow. As usual they will be putting some more tickets on sale plus outside the venue tmrw you should be able to pick up a ticket no problem.

craigslist is an entire page of WANTED/LOOKING, and one guy offering 4 "floor tickets" (um, its a GA show) for $75 a pop. No luck trying Ticketmaster a few times today.

That dude needs to calm down.

does anybody know which band is going on first???

they've been switching it up.

Does anyone else find the Yeasayer CD to be a complete snoozer?

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:43 PM

yeasayer on first

Posted by Anonymous | February 12, 2008 2:43 PM

Anon 2:43, I find Yeasayer's CD and live performance to be a complete snoozer. Don't understand the appeal of that band at all. MGMT on the other hand has a few hot tracks, but find them to be a little hit or miss.

that dood looks like Weird Al Yancovic.

Have you guys listened to "2080"? That song is as close to an instant classic as any I've heard lately. That song is beyond incredible.

The rest of the album, sounds nice. Yeasayer is more like a band with a ton of potential who just aren't quite there yet. That's okay. I don't see why everyone jumps on overly judging these bands while they're still developing. If you hear potential than I think people should go easier on these acts. That's why there's so many "blog bands" these days that crumble after a few months of hype. You take a young, developing band, place them on a pedestal with these silly expectations, and then everyone abandons them because they didn't write some sort of timeless classic. A fair chunk of bands do their best work after 2-4 albums so maybe it's more fair to judge Yeasayer with what they have in a few years time? Just a thought.

The only song I like is "Sunrise." Looks like another case of overblown hipster hype which will lead to another band that no one will care about 3-4 months.

I'm gonna go listen to so more Motion City Soundtrack.

At the Minneapolis show last week, instead of playing "Kids," the band put the CD on and pretended to play as a joke. I wonder if this will happen at the bowery show; I imagine new yorkers will either find this hilarious or a reason to never listen to this band again.

Also, no encore.

god.. I thought that was a picture of Har Mar Superstar

Definitely copping those remixes. Thanks!

Yeah that Mpls show was interesting. Yeasayer, although I'm not a big fan of the album, was wonderful live. Just a great show. MGMT, however... one of the worst shows I've seen in a LONG time. Sound was awful and they seemed not to care at all that they were playing in front of people. It was awkward and self-absorbed at best.

Posted by stacy | February 12, 2008 10:14 PM

Re-mixes are hot.

The shite karaoke to "Kids" was the one barely redeeming factor of MGMT in MPLS, other than that, it was a miserable shambles.

Yeasayer and Battle Royale danced it out of the park though, even if the Yeasayer disc is a bit drab.

Get into the Bowery for Yeasayer, then to kill off MGMT, or at least give them a swift kick to the head.
